Cochin Thread!!!

Thank you. I've been on stop googling and I found 2 chicken that the chicks look identical. West summers and old English game. If my chicks had fuzz on there feet I'd think possibly Cochin but the have bare little legs lol. I just hope what ever kind they are they are good with my silkies. I'm hoping since they are growing up together they will be good together.

I have a totally mixed flock. If you rear them together, it's rarely an issue. Of course we don't know the breed (some are more aggressive). But, Likely they will be just fine.

My LF Cochin have grown enough to identify colors, now. I have rehomed the sweet mixbreed partridge "Cochin".
The blue is still blue, white quickly showed itself to be splash. The last one initially looked barred but what is the color/pattern called?
Thank you.

They both look Splash. But the second came in differently. The neck and head being darker I am not sure what that is called.

Looks like she's got some Columbian gene going on.
Pretty!

Hi! I'm new to owning Cochins. I have one Splash that is about 6 months old, she hasn't started laying eggs yet. I also have a black one that is about 12 weeks old. It wasn't until this week that I realized the black one must be a bantam. I was comparing pictures and when the Splash was 12 weeks old she was twice as big as the black one is right now. I didn't realize there were different size Cochins! How big can I expect the bantam Cochin to get? Do they have the same behavioral characteristics as standard Cochins? What about egg laying? I feel silly for not realizing this until now! When I bought the black one I don't remember them being sold as bantams.
