Hello! Newbie here just made my first post (bantam or standard cochin). Wondering if anyone knows bantam cochin breeders in ontario ? I'm southern Ontario.

TIA

Hi yall! I brought home 4 Cochin bantam chicks two weeks ago and gave them to my broody Silkie.. she took to them immediately and has been a wonderful mama! I lost one the second day.. went back to TSC yesterday and they replaced the one I lost.. brought that one home.. plopped her in and now mama has four again! What I’d like to know is.. do Cochin chicks develop feathers more slowly than most chicks? Three of them have the feather development of maybe a week old or less! And the buff one has a bit more and seems a bit bigger... also, was wondering if the yellow one is frizzled and perhaps that’s the reason for slow development? If you zoom in on the yellow one you can see the second row of feathers sticks out a bit..

Many times in bantam cochins females feather out faster and males stay naked longer. So they can be sexed by feather development many times.
