Cochin Thread!!!

Here are pics of my first Bantam Cochin. He/she is 14-15 weeks old and was bought at the feed store.

I have been convinced for several weeks that this was a roo, but then saw some of the other pics on here with roos that were younger and had by far larger combs. I have no idea, but love this little bird either way and have even purchased some hatching eggs to get this little one a proper flock...

The good news is your little darling is definitely a SHE ;-)
Aren't they just the sweetest things ever?

I'm selling off all my Mille Fleur bantam cochins in order
to focus on my Calico Cochin project.
They're ALL such beautiful, sweet chickens...

I have an ad in the For Sale section of this site. It has lots of pictures of my cochins. Look for the ad that says "Qaulity Mille Fleur bantam Cochins for sale"...

Thanks to all of you who have contacted me privately about getting MFCs from me! I'm going to need to get more boxes! It may make things happen faster if you send me the large Live Bird box, as all I have are the single nests. I can tape two boxes together but that costs more than shipping in one large box...

Hi Nancy! - You should double-check with your PO - usually you can tape the two boxes together and then ship it as one large one.

Thanks! And yes they are! Do you think she could be at least breeder quality? I know hatcheries are not known for good stock, and I don't know that much about Cochin conformation, but she seems pretty to me. LOL, I'm sure I would let her sit no matter what... but just curious.

Nancy-E-mailed you about sending you a 4 stall box...I don't want some I NEED some

Edited to add if anyone else is needing some omni nest boxes to get some of Nancy's birds the shipping is cheaper if several are shipped so we could get together and have from 2-9 shipped at a flat rate plus the box..

Also, 2 cockerels we have listed for sale since we have no need of these varieties:

And then, just because they are pretty boys:

That's very interesting coloring on that little pullet!! I'm seeing the same coloring (black beaks, black on tops of feet, and very dark combs) on the F1 chicks in my project (Golden Laced roo on Splash hen). Genetically, they should all be blue, but right now, at 2 - 5 weeks, they are all showing mostly black. The little roos are showing red combs/wattles; the darker tinted combs are staying very small, so probably pullets.

Keep us posted as your project progresses and the chicks mature.
