100% sure the Barred is a cockerel.

The Barreds are very slow to feather.

If it were a pullet, he would be much darker and not have the pointed hackle saddle feathers.

I raise large Barreds. I'll take a couple pics later and post for comparison.

Cochinman.....thanks. That stinks, but thanks.

I would like to see yours however. That would help me a lot. I can find cochins but not barred online. So, I guess I will be making a spot for him in the run where I can put him a little coop! Was putting it off, holding out hope.

I simply love this chicken. Really he is so sweet. I will be looking for him a little flock of girls.

Am looking for girls for my Barred Rock rooster also. His pen is ready but not his coop. I have a little house for him that he won't sleep in yet. My husband will build the bigger one when he gets in from working out of state.

The rooster in the pen with the cochin ignores him. Maybe because he is slower to develop? He sure did not like the BR at all once the girls got to POL.

Thanks and please post your pictures. And send me about 4 girls....lol!

Just got my first cochins this year, and boy am I happy I did. They have a lot of personality to them.

The white ones are like round balls of fluff, so cute. The buff is actually buff barred, but needs work. Happy to share, and see everyone else's as well.

I hope your chicks have his personality, he's so sweet, he talks to me all the time and when he sees me coming with treats (watermelon is his favorite) he gets so excited and dances around. He usually gets everybody else excited he's so noisey about it!

Here is a pic of my best laced blue cochin hen. She needs a bigger cushion but I have a nice black roo with her that will do that.
What do you think of her ?
