My bantams have stopped laying and the LFs are still laying. I keep a light on 24/7 in LF coop though.

so they never get a chance to get a full night of sleep? what a depressing life, always tired

I don't know,,,, they don't seem depressed to me. They seem to be pretty happy.

I find that the Cochins do slow down laying in the winter. Basically moulting stops them (as well as our other birds) and will begin again as the days lengthen. I too have a light that comes on around 4 am and they go to bed with natural light. But they also share the coop with egg producers.

our Partridge Cochin Bantams are still laying we have 4 and one is actually very broody. We have about 16 hours of light on them between have lights come on and the day light. This will be our first winter with them as they are about 8 months old.

I have (at this moment)
4 black crossed with ???? cockerels, and 2 pullets (a black and a mottled)
of the cockerels 2 have red mixed in, and 2 with gold. I was going to keep one of each color; but maybe I should keep the golds.
They look like this

By keep or not keep- I mean 2 will be with the girls and 2 will be penned up or given away as pets.

Hi all,
Just joining this thread. I have no cochins yet

But am interested in getting some in the spring. I live in Portland, OR area. I keep hearing that "Heidi in Washington" is a good source for standard cochins.
Heidi, if you are on here please PM me. If anyone knows Heidi please ask her to contact me regarding a potential egg, chick, or grown cochin purchase.
Thanks,
Anne
