I have a little roo that's about 2 months old. He looks promising. I hatched him from an egg assortment from a good breeder. I really need to find him a good home, but unfortunately, you're too far away. I have never shipped and I really wouldn't know how to go about it. Good luck finding what you're looking for. If anyone in North East AL needs a nice buff roo, let me know.

i am just realizing how much i really like the buff color in most breeds!

i have 1 laying buff cochin pullet in my pen who has decided to go broody on me at 8 months old! a sweet 4 week old in the brooder! and one 4week old golden neck d'uccle chick that has me gushing over his coloring coming in and wishing there was a buff mottled in the cochins! i also have a buff brahma hen and another 4 week old bb chick in the pen too! so i guess i am collecting the BUFFS!

i kind of wish there was a buff laced in the cochins too but i am no genetics expert and i don't think there is much possibility of doing it without adding in genes from another breed-like those BLR cochins being worked on!

If I just read my genetics books correctly, genetically, Buff Laced is Golden Laced with a dose of DOMINANT White. Therein may lie the problem, as White Cochins are generally Recessive White.
If we had Dominant White in Cochins, we could do lots of color varieties!! (i.e. I believe you need Dominant White to make Red Pyle.) There may be a few Dominant Whites lurking about, but you really don't know for sure until you breed them.
Maybe someone else on here that's more genetically savvy and experienced can help here.

Someone might consider working on creating a strain of Dominant White Cochins . . .
