Not to rain on your parade, but you can't make Lemon Blues from a Blue X Buff, or Buff X Blue matings. There is no pattern gene involved with that match up. You need to start with Brown Red and Splash, or Brown Red and Blue, and the Brown Red can't be from a Buff X Black cross either. Unless you are producing no kidding laced/edged feathers in the breast feathers of the males and females, and saddle feathers in the males that are laced with color you don't have the correct genetics.
Brown Red X Splash will produce Lemon Blue, but many will be undermarked, which may not be a bad thing since most Brown Reds are over marked. Breeding the f1's back together or a lighter Blue based f1 back to a Brown Red would be the route I'd go. Lemon Blue X Lemon Blue will produce the same results as breeding Blue X Blue (that is 25% Lemon Splash, 25% Brown Red, and 50% Lemon Blue).
Well, I guess I'll try to find a Brown Red Cockerel, since I have plenty of Splash and Blue hens.
Thanks for the info!
