I thought I'd post here to see if any of you might be able to help. I'm looking for a standard size frizzled cochin, hopefully a roo. I want to find one that is not a mix of colors. Has anyone heard of any out there? I have one hen that is black but she got some brown around her neck, so I figure she'd pass that to her chicks. I really want to find one that is all one color, really any color would work or some eggs.

try redroofhens. they sell eggs.

Thanks for the tip. I've actually hatched some from her. Her pen has all different colors so the frizzled one that I got was black with some brown around its neck. I think that would probably come through in her chicks. Its harder to find a full size frizzle cochin than I thought it would be. I guess most people just like the bantam frizzled ones.

I think I saw some full size ones on ebay last spring that were pure colored. They will probably have them again this spring if you watch.

Ahh yes, patience. Not my strong point these days, I should try it though. I'm sure something will come up this spring. Thanks

Do you have the brother, Tigger? If I could get something from him that would be great. As far as I know all pullets are solid buff, but I'm also guessing the goal is to eliminate the black/brown in the cushion. If your hen is clear, I don't think it could be avoided or would really matter that she might be a carrier, the important thing is that she herself doesn't have any dark feathering, that's great!
I got my birds from S&C and I had to beg for months to get these.

They (S&C) are working on their program and don't have a lot of birds. The ones that they have they want to keep for the obvious reasons. I saw some of their adults that were extremely nice, but of course they weren't going to let me have those. Brother Paul was very honest about what he was letting me have, they weren't the culls but they weren't his best. I just considered myself lucky to get them. I got the only two pullets he had available at that time and luckily one of them turned out to be pretty nice.
I have black, blue (splash) birchen, black & blue mottled, and partridge cochin, and I think I can safely say they are relatively nice. They are NOT hatchery stock. Then I've got these little play around birds, the buff barred and mille fleur. I also have d'Uccle in mille fleur, lavender, porcelain. If there's anything there that sounds like something you'd be interested in, let me know and we can work on this trade thing.
This sounds wonderful! I really appreciate your willingness to work with me.

I've heard that the females look more like a buff mottled. If you look under bantam cochins under Feathersite there is buff cuckoo hens that are patterned. Here is a picture of Tigger and Cactus Toast. Tigger is on the right. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/uploads/23433_camera_go_187.jpg

Mottled, Birchen, Buff Barred, and Blue/Black/ Splash. Hmm. I'm in for a trade, not sure for which color though. lol.

I would LOVE some buff barred cochin chicks or eggs if you have any for sale

I think it is more so the fact that people have just lately started to work on Standard Cochin Frizzles and there arent as many people around with them yet. There are a couple websites I found just by googling Frizzle Cochin of breeders who have Blue or Black Standard Frizzles that are prett nice birds. I would check it out. And remember, if you cant find what you want, start with the best you canget and breed for better.

Edit: Couldnt find the direct link, but here is someone's flickr page with pics of their birds. http://www.flickr.com/photos/silkiebird/

Yeah that makes sense. I'll have to do my part to spread them around I guess

I one place in CA that has them, Namaste Farms. And maybe if I can just wait until Spring, I'll have a bit better luck.
