There is no "requirement" - unless of course you consider my (very small) fee for listing you a requirement! LOL

Seriously, there is no "requirement". The intent is merely to compile a database of those Varieties being bred in 2011, so that others looking for a particular Variety can find the Breeder easily.

If you're asking for a definition of a "Breeder", that is very subjective, and you will find a lot of (sometimes heated) discussions on BYC regarding who exactly can consider themselves a "Breeder".

I don't think we should open that can of worms here.

But, if you're asking my opinion, 1st and foremost, you are breeding to the SOP - for both Cochin type as well as the Plumage Variety.

So that I can get you included, I just need clarification on your Varieties - is that Black, Blue, and Mottled, or Black Mottled and Blue Mottled?

We primarily do solid black and blue, with a few black mottled and a couple of barred. The barreds have nice plumage, but not great on the barring yet.

Thanx Dee! I've got you listed.

I just got my first ever cochins the other day. They are standards and I'm so excited about them! I got two blues and two splashes. Could someone give me an idea of the SOP on them. I honestly have no idea.

Gosh the columbians are really beautiful! Sure would love to get one of those boys. I have started breeding for columbians, have a few buffs and a blue columbian still need to improve type but it is coming. Your birds though are just gorgeous. Do you every sell breeding pairs?

Well, I have started setting eggs from Earl and his girls. I have someone that agreed to be a tester for me in this project of buff Mottleds, too so we shall see what we can get. I will try to hang on to type while breeding for color and pattern. Unfortunately, the girls say they are thinking of taking some time off now!

I have eggs in the bator so we shall see what I hatch and how well they mature. I think they will be close in color to my Calicos but without any black and it will just take me a while of hatching and culling to get some really nice patterned birds. If no one else cares for them, that is okay. I breed what I like anyhow! It's a sickness, I tell you!
