Hey Cochin Coop, what do you think of Jack & Mae now? Don't they look good?

yes they do, especially Jack. he's beautiful!
I'm thinking about trying to get a couple more splash this year from my hen and a blue mottled male. she spends more time broody than laying so it's hard to get eggs from her

Have I mentioned before how much I love Cochins, Ha! I have no second thoughts after choosing them for my first chickens and no real interest in other breeds. Foot feathers cushions and the sweetest dispositions; who could want more?

Here is a pic of some of my chicks I got the other day. They are three or four days old and in relation to the brick behind them, they are about 1 1/2- 2 bricks tall. Do these sound like Bantam Cochins to y'all? Thanks. Y'all have some beautiful birds!

I don't have a lot of hens, so I'm pretty sure I'm going to be hatching all my eggs and will only have started stock available.

Midas sired pure GL's last year, as well as being the sire in my BLR project. So this spring, he will be back on my GL hens, as well as sire to my F2 BLR's.

This will be Calypso's first breeding season, so he will only be used only back on his GL mother.

At least the plan as of today . . .

ok keep me in mind if you have a gold laced male started for sale. I would love one in that darker red color

I am going to be letting my beautiful red and white roo go to a new home. I think he would be a great start to a new color project. I have way too many going to try another. I was going to breed him to a red hen and see what happened. Anyone that would like him to breed please pm me and we'll discuss it further.

OK, will do! I'm sure I'll be posting chicklet pics here and on My Pages as I progress thru the spring, so you'll be able to watch their progress!

(You can see Calypso's chick progression from last spring on My Pages - strangest transformation I've ever seen!!)
