Ty and i will admit there are alot of breeds I know alot about. But far as these birds are conserned there not birds at all But my kids. they are some of the first chickens we bought when we decided to get rid of all hatchery stock and start buying from reputable breeders.
these fluffy butts as we call em are spoiled rotten.

Elinor's chicks :

I'm a true backyard chicken owner - I have a townhouse in the city. We can have a few hens - no roosters, and bantams are best for me. I have a buff Brahma right now. I'm attracted to cochins because of their gentle temperments and tolerance to cooping. The fact that they are beautiful is a plus. Sure I wish they were better layers, but temperment is more important to me. I can't order chicks because you have to buy too many, and there's the risk of getting roosters - and boy is it hard to find someone with one pullet they are willing to sell! I'm trying to find a breeder of bantam Cochins in KY, preferably central KY. There are colors I like better than others, but in my position I can't be picky. I'm not looking for a show bird - just a nice girl with sound conformation. I corresponded with someone the next state over about one of her birds, but haven't heard back. Know of anyone I could contact?

I have some little splash pullets right now. They are my first batch so I don't know what they would turn out like. I'll try to get some pictures posted today. It's finally stopped raining here and it's a beautiful, sunny day. Where are you located in KY? We are in Southern IN but I work in Clarksville, right across the bridge from LV so I can always meet you~

How far into Kentucky are you? I'm about 90 minutes north of Louisville and have some bantam cochins chicks from good stock that are old enough to sex, blue, black, and splash, both frizzled and smooth. Will have some smooth whites that aren't quite old enough to sex.

I plan to go to the swap at Shelbyville on the 26th and will be taking some chicks.

That spounds great. Shelbyville is only an hour down the road from me. Will you be bringing all these chicks you mentioned to sell? If not, I like smooth better than frizzle, and blue and black are my favorites! Where will the swap be held? Bluegrass Poultry Club has closed down their website, and it's hard to get info about local goings-on.

Our first (and only so far) chick. We call it Fuzzy Butt for now. Now the girls are obsessed with them since they've seen more adult pics. I'm sure before too long we'll have a small flock of LF cochins. My girls keep telling anyone who will listen about the "fuzzy butt" chickens. They get some odd looks...

Got 9 Mille Fleur due to hatch next Saturday, 7 more on the 24th and put 12 in the incubator today. My 3 Mille girls layed 12 eggs last week!

My neighbor has the incubator. He hatches them for me and OEGBs for his brother. He gets 50 eggs a day from his own Marans, Ameraucanas and Welsummers. He is a quadrapalegic (sp.?) and does almost all his farm work himself. I have been helping grab and sort chicks out of his brooders since last spring and I fed his flocks during the snow storm when drifts were too high for him to get near their pens with his scooter. So he hatches my eggs for me. I enjoy helping out; it is as if I have LF chickens too without the feed bill!

Handling all those adorable chicks is how I came to want chickens of my own. When I sorted some of his brother's bantams I could no longer resist. I knew I didn't want alot of chickens so I researched what breed to get and Cochins were what I got!
