a roo pulled out my poor girls tail. Now i cant show her till she molts. how old do u think she is. i bought her from a breeder. he said she was a year old when i got her. so she would be two now. does she look about two years old. and u think she would be good for showing when her feathers come back in. i show with the breeder and he always gets grand champion chickens. she came from his champion pair. shes a standard buff cochin

We would need better pics to be able to tell her quality. You want to get her to assume to correct pose, have a solid bacground (blanket or towel on a chair), and get a clear, crisp pic of the side and back, and one of her face.

All advice given here was good and accurate. My one concern is that I have quite cold winters and would never trim a bird if it was not going to grow feathers back before winter. That is one of the reasons I pluck. Also I can not show a trimmed bird.

Im not going to show them, the lady I got them from entered them in a country fair show and 3 won best of trio and the one hen one first place, but who knows what the competition was, lol. Think i'll forgo the vent trim, pluck until maybe spring--but they are getting a bath--Im sure that will be a scene, they will probably freak out, right? One lady said she blows hers dry with a hair dryer and they love it, I can't imagaine that!! Wow!@

Only chicken people can understand this....

I found a red bantam cochin pullet - after searching for what seems like forever. I am soooo happy!
She's nothing to write home about, but I have a plan

Her name is JANE

Tarzan (avatar pic) will be very happy too, I hope!
