There has been so little activity on the Cochin thread for a while. Is it the new format or that like me nothing new is happening while I wait out winter. Wishing you all a good hatch soon!

I have similar issues. I have roosts in my Columbian cages and they just don't use the available roost. It can't hurt them to exercise. I find my male wings are always carried lower than the hens. I will have Columbians at the Sedalia show in April also. Look forward to meeting you. While I am here, I have a question. My columbian roo carries his wings lower than I would like him to. I read somewhere (maybe this thread) that if they do not have a chance to fly up to a perch, the muscles that allow them to hold them properly become weak. My roo has never had a perch and does not get a chance to free range. Is it possible to exercise his wings and see if he carries them higher, or am I just talking crazy? Here is a pic of him.

Craig!!! Does he have that gorgeous penciling? Well, I should say does he come from that gorgeous penciling? You know that type matters to me, I'll buy him.PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE. He could be just the guy I need to work with my original hens that have good penciling. Did you see the post from Tom in the genetics thread about my Partridges?![]()
When I say he is good you know I mean it. He comes from outstanding penciling. He still isn't as good as his dad. I always tell it like I see it.If I could find my old uploads on BYC or how to get to it so I can post a picture of him. Some of the new BYC is frustrating as @#11. I was going to show him at the CI Western Nationals in April at Sedalia, Mo then we can talk about getting him to you. The other Partridge I have are going to AnnaMay after I show them in April.
