Cochin Thread!!!

Tom, you do such a wonderful job of critiquing for folks, you come by your "educator" title honestly.
Question about one of your comments......."Even at 3 1/2 months, good blacks look like miniature versions of their future selves." Is this true for all varieties, regarding type? I realize you can't evaluate color on the patterned birds, but can you judge their type and if so, at what age can you make this call?

Clare, Is the Four Corners Show in Farmington in November big enough to host either a District or National Meet?

I'm not sure what qualifies as "big enough" . It was 800 birds last year, but they have been bigger and have plenty of room. They run a nice show.

I got some babies last friday, though I'd share a couple pics. Altogether I got 2 barred, 2 blue and 2 red :)

I think this is a blue or splash, but not really sure yet.

I think this is one of the barred. The reds blend in with all the little red packing peanuts, so I had a really hard time getting even a semi-decent picture of them :/

I think my partridge pullet is molting, but isn't this the wrong time of year for it?

She is less than a year old, she just started laying in Dec. Her feathers are a mess and she has stopped laying, when she had been laying really well. Has anyone else had this happen?

Hey Cochinman,

I wanted to share a few pic's of some familiar birds for ya!! They are doing really well and adjusted well also. My husband is so excited to bred that black cockrel he thinks his type is just awesome!! plus he has a spunky personality too!! lol

Thanks,
Beth

While admiring your lovely birds, the cage divider in the first picture caught my eye. What type is it and where did you find it?
