Cochin Thread!!!

Craig, your short essay a few pages back was full of good information and insight. I would like to thank you for all the information you have posted on this thread. I don't ask a lot of questions here, but I am always silently lurking in the shadows trying to learn what I can.

Thank you for the compliment.

I like it when people want to learn and ask questions

There is no SIZE standard except weight.

Bantam

Large fowl
Weight:
Cock: 30 oz Hen: 26 oz
Cockerel: 26 oz Pullet: 24oz

Cock...............................11 lbs. Hen.......................................8 1/2 lbs.
Cockerel...........................9 lbs. Pullet..........................................7 lbs.
To further clarify.
The standards state that weights must be in proportion to size, at the same time preserving the ideal shape and type for the breed. There are variances for weight. Allowances are made for weight due to molt during late summer and fall.

Further down in the interpretation of the standards it states:
It is imperative that shape and type be considered of greatest importance.

Hope this helps

Craig
