Cochin Thread!!!

Hi all! I thought this little Buff Columbian Cochin was a girl...feathered out like a girl for sure, but in the last 3 days, bam! Big red comb and wattles. He/she is 6 1/2 weeks....do you think girl or boy? Isn't looking good for a girl, I must admit.

Got some pictures of the chicks today. Hope you guys enjoy.

Here is the little lone Red that hatched. Hope to have more soon as I have several eggs in the cooker. Really like the color on this chick, nice deep Red.

Got some shots of the juveniles in the coop too.

This picture was an accident, lol. Was trying to get the frizzle cockerel in the background, but some of the more curious birds wanted to know what the little orange light was and came to see. And I know Cochins have very nice attitudes and are very docile by nature, but this years birds seem to be even more so "sweet" than any other Cochins I have ever owned. I cant walk in the coop without having birds on my feet, or standing at my feet begging for attention. I think too they are very used to being handled as my 5 year old twin cousins and my 4 year old nephew are always in the coop with me, and are usually always packing one of them around, lol. I can kneel down on the coop and within 2 minutes I have a lap full of Cochins, and to be honest the cockerels are tamer than any of the pullets are. Enough rambling, hope you enjoy.

Hahahaha! I LOVE this picture. Now if that doesn't capture a typical curious cochin personality! Great foot feathering on that little red baby!

I'm jealous of everyone posting pics of this year's juveniles. All but my oldest hatch from this year are still in brooders, and I have 2 hatches left to go! I'm ready to be done with brooding for the year!

Enablers, us both! I didn't want blue mottled until I saw your pullet

I've always planned on having black mottled though, so, it's not such a stretch!
I love my buff barred, though, Twyla, So pretty, and they compliment the MF nicely

I love this picture of my Buff-Barred cockerel :)
OMG! OMG! OMG!!!! I love this variety! Stop already! LOL
This is another one of your most fantastic photos. In a previous life you were a professional photographer, yes?
And this little fella is the most handsome of birds. I am head over heels in LOVE!
