Cochin Thread!!!

TAMMYCLEAN thats a nice nest box. Pretty partridge too.

Thanks BoGarrett and the CochinCoop and I think there was another on here that talked about the eye color. I will not worry so much about the eye color from now on

I do not have ant silver laced. Hope you find one BlackCochinBantams. The black is beautiful.

I have a blue cockerel and some black pairs that are 6 months that I would like to get rid of as I just have too many. The people in this area are saturated with bantam cochins so is very hard to get rid of around here. Anybody who would want some please pm me and I can see what I can do about shipping when the weather gets cooler. I can do pictures too. They are all very similar and nice looking. The seconds are already gone so these are the top picks for me but I don't need so many.

Also have a pair of bantam whites that are very pretty but doubt they are show quality to a[ good home.[ And some noisy and very friendly little brown red modern games bantams to a good home only.It is so hard to find homes that won't fight these guys. They are veru friendly with the cochins and never harm them.

Just wormed everybody and dusted and need to give them nail clips and bathes and they will be ready to go.

Just pm me. :)

Shame you weren't closer. I am after blacks yet. I am hoping this Saturday's swaps in WV and MD provide me with at least 2 new girls or even a trio.

Well Wondering your thoughts on these guys now that they are older!
Capone and Goldie are from solid black Cochin parents and the breeders can't belive the coloration I have described to them so with luck i will bring the camera to show how the babies are growing out

Our questions are #1 what would cause this coloration out of standard black birds, "what genetic surprises do you suspect they hold??" " what can I expect out of these guys in the future??
I have 1 more solid black cockerell and I am getting 2 more pullets hopefully today that are straight black "so far

" they are younger chicks but my fingers are crossed for maybe another with some surprise coloration!!

#2 what coloration would you call these two?

Any way here is Capone "so named due to a bald spot that never feathered over"

Goldie our pretty little girl and Marys favorite!!

So far that I know these are the only two colored from their black bantom Cochins that they know of but i am keeping hopes up for the other three we will raise up!

So no thoughts on why these two popped out of a solid black flock and what you might call their colloration?

It seems to be quiet as far as comments on pictures and such lately. I am wondering if there is Brown Red or Mottled in the parents background somewhere. I don't know sure but it is my best guess.

My best guess would be that your Blacks had a Silver laced parent. Both these bird look partially laced. I have similar birds from breeding Black x Gold laced and then breeding the resulting offspring back together.
