I had the same problem.

Quote: my advisor at UMaine (orono) gave me a splash cochin hen years ago. i've been hooked ever since... then again, he's the one that convinced me i needed to add chickens to my barn... (it's all his fault and i remind him every time we talk LOL)
DQ for white feet legs. Yellow is the best color. She looks nice but a picture in 2 months will look quite a bit different is my guess. More cushion would be better but she is not bad now for 7 months. Whether she is SQ is debatable. Would she do well against other Partridge? Probably but is she good enough to beat a Black? Probably not. What would you describe her eye color as?Does she have feathers completely covering the 2nd too?I got this young lady recently. She is my first Cochin + the other 2 girls I brought home with her. The others are molting, I'll post pictures when they look better.
Would this hen be worth breeding and/or showing? Or just a pretty pet? She was said to be about a year. I'm guessing little under a year. I'm thinking she still has some more tail feathers coming out. I certainly hope so! I'll have to go and take a closer look and maybe get some pictures of her feet etc. Speaking of feet. The 3 hens that I have, have different color feet. I think this one had the yellow feet. The other two, lighter color. Is there a specific foot color for a Cochin? Is there a color that would be a DQ? I'm more familiar with the Silkies and their black feet.![]()
Pick her apart! I want to learn more!![]()
edit.
I found out this partridge is only 7 months old![]()
My girls don't have white feet, good thing. This partridge has yellow, the other two have a much lighter colored feet.DQ for white feet legs. Yellow is the best color. Please read this from the Cochins International website: http://www.cochinsint.com/bantam-female.html
She would be a good bird for breeding, her type is there and her color isnt bad either. As far as showing, I think she would do well as Craig said against a bird of like variety, but against a Black or White she probably wont go far. If you would find a good male to breed her to with good type im sure you will have some nice birds from the two.I got this young lady recently. She is my first Cochin + the other 2 girls I brought home with her. The others are molting, I'll post pictures when they look better.

i think new hatched varies, i've got all ranges of pink/white/ish... but in my experience, they usually color up within a few weeks.Well I have a total of 3 silver laced cochin bantam chicks that have hatched. I was playing with them when I noticed that one has bright pink legs, is this a problem? I don't think I've ever hatched a cochin with pink legs? They are usually a dull color.

All Cochins should have yellow/swarthy yellow legs, and bottoms of feet should be yellow. Eye color should be reddish bay(more of an orangish red) or red. And dont neglect the little things when breeding, they may come back to bite you big in the long run.
