Cochins passing pure blood - Cocci Kills

This is exactly why anything I bring home now goes on preventive dose Corid water for a week. It's devastating to lose them when they're old enough that they "should" be fine. Been there, done that, sadly.
This is actually a good idea. Worming new birds is too.

I don't think this is an option for Cy.
:(
Send a poo sample in to a lab? Here we can send them to 4 labs in the state. There are different costs per test. A float test for worms is about $15.00

Yes, deworming and a permethrin dip are part of my quarantine too.
I like your routine. Unfortunately most people don't realize this is a good idea until it's too late.

I had a person get very mad at me recently about this topic. Person brought home a hen with a swollen eye and gait issues. I suggested that they should be quarantined to observe and figure out issues--Mareks could be a cause.

OP thought quarantine was not needed because the place the hens came from was clean and the flock was well kept.

Always Quarantine! Bio Security is very important. I have see a lot of threads where people brought illness to their flock this way
