Good morning one and all!

Water, tea, and condiments are ready for your enjoyment.

Grab a cup, sit a while, and gossip with all of us.

My chicks will be 10 weeks old July 1.

Could I start feeding them pellets instead of crumbles.

I'm going to start trying to integrate my chicks with my hens a little at a time.

Have a great day.
I am going to. I use Scratch & Peck layer pellets. I have 1/4 of a bag of Purina grower crumbles left and I am going to just, when /i need to add feed to the feeder mix it 1/2&1/2.
I started taking them out to the run for an hour or so at a time when they were 2 weeks old and would let them run and play in the coop, no big chickens allowed hahaha then moved them to the coop May30th but they didnt run loose without supervision for a week and a half. This heat is hard on them though.

My chicks are in a 10 x 10 area where they are able to see the hens and vise versa.

They have pecked at each other through the hardware clothe.

I'm hoping this will make the integration easier.

I guess I'll find out soon enough.

Thanks for the information

I am worried, if it does get hotter, then the run will be well over 100, I may be freaking out soon- the surrounding temp may be 95 but the concentrated heat in the run ,100
I just happened to think, can you get some shade cloth like they use in nurseries? I put some on and it really does dial down the direct sun. I think some places sell it by the foot. I got a prepackaged roll of it which was plenty for what I needed it for. Other than that you can put lawn chairs or anything they can get under or that can cast some shade.

Morning I left the main door on my coops last night
It was so hot in there, fried chicken on the roost ?
cutting a whole in it today will make it hinged with hardware cloth over it
Luckily mine is in the run so I can just leave it open
That is a good Idea, I'll tell my son, his door is not in the run, it opens to the outside
