Coffee's ready...

Morning People,
Black coffee this morning, no milk............

Weather: Mid 80's - low 90's, clear. I woke up to 62deg, fog.

I made a sample of the rhubarb sauce and it received 2 thumbs up from the ladies here. It's on the list when I can again. Here is the recipe if anyone is interested in it. I quarter the recipe to make my sample. Personally, I thought it was a little to sweet. I think it would be good on pig and lamb, we had it on chicken.

8 Cups Chopped Rhubarb
3 1/2 Cups Brown Sugar
1 1/2 Chopped Raisins ( I didn't use)
1/2 Cup Chopped Onions
1/2 Cup White Vinegar ( I used Apple Cider Vinegar)
1 tsp Ground Allspice
1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
1 tsp Ground Ginger
1 tsp Salt ( I didn't add)

Mix everything together and cook until it is thick.

oesdog: That would be hard for me to do, put the BBQ away. I burn food on ours year round. Nothing like BBQ when there is a foot on snow on the ground.

Shop day today. I think the "spell" is over and I am hoping that this week wont be as painful...........

Looks like it's time for the store to be open and grab some milk.

Enjoy the day

Hi everyone

I am a bit tired today and feel like I have been on the go for hours and hours. Have to get the kids ready to take them back to their house which is about 100 mile round trip. It was good to see our eldest son and his partner for a few days. Though I think he is much the same as DH and they butt heads a bit. I will be glad to have the house back but have Baby Jessica tomorrow and Tuesday -

I think we could manage that !!!!!!

She is far too young to give us bother yet but I guess like all kids she has time yet!

Yeah the BBQ is away - but I like the recipie for the Rhubarb and am deffinately going to try that out. Not sure about the onion in it ???? Will try and see???
Have to do something with the stuff befor it takes over like a triffid!

Its sunny here today and the chicks are all out in the yard. Betty is happy with the hand reard little ones and has not even bothered to miss her mum. Bertha doesn;t even notice she is one short. It turns out to be a good move because Betty is so much smaller than the other three big chicks and isn;t getting the food. Also I think she will teach the other 2 a few things they have missed learning not having had a mummy etc. Like how they really should go in when it rains etc!

Anyhow I am a little low today - so will away probably just tired out really.

Oesdog - have to get myself to the bottom of this coffee and get myself into gear.
Not looking foward to the drive and wont see Ds for a while now. He is for France soon I think.

Good Morning!
Drinking some extra-strong coffee today. The Rays game was a good one - so good we couldn't leave early, so I didn't get to bed until midnight, way past my bedtime. It's a bit annoying, actually, as when I bought those tickets the game was scheduled for 1:40, then two weeks ago I got an e-mail that it was re-scheduled for 8pm - on a Sunday!? And it was even supposed to be "family day" at the stadium!

Math Ace - you have quite a list for the day! Good luck - I'll be so impressed if you get that much done. Isn't that chirping of a single, lonely chick the saddest sound in the world? I couldn't take it after about four days with the EE, and got the Olive Egger to keep her company. That would be fun to have monthly meetings. I'm planning on hosting a chicken swap at my house in October, and hopefully I will meet a few of the people around here. Gotta get on the ball with that if it's going to happen.

Have a safe drive, Oesdog, and get some rest. You sound so busy, too.
Well, have a good day, chicken peeps.

Well, it's nice to know everyone is busy too.

First things first as I see them.

Oesdog cheer up. Your family is healthy and I suspect you miss the kids and that new granddaughter. Something about a baby in the house. DH and DS will be fine a little bumping heads is a man thing and lord knows each is feeling it more than you. Went to the fair and saw the Mc Carthy's again. Irish trio, very good. Just a side venue but nice to sit and listen to. As far as I know she's from Ireland but not sure of the DH and DS. Wish they'd sing some more Irish ballads. Saw lots of chickens of course. Only took a few pics. 135 total.

Que, that looks like a good recipe and since I'm the one home I may try it if I can find some rhubarb. Don't have any in the garden.

Math, good garden 0' peas! I'm tired just reading your list. I haven't thought of my own. Lets' see, there's dishes and tomatoes to put up, more stuff to do with the chickens but SIL is home so he will help. That's one good thing about him being here he will do the things I can't. I have to call the insurance co. too. Doc's called they refused my claim and I have to see him next month so I gotta get that taken care of. Oh and have to hold the Queen. Here's what she looks like in the morning.

Winter's comming and I'm dreading that. I hate snow and cold. If it weren't for church I would never go out. Oh and the chickens, of course. I've already started covering the run with plastic. Wish my coop was as big as the run. I've already thought of how I could cover it to a more permanent thing. Oh and I talked to a woman at the fair about sheep. Anyone got sheep? She doesn't live to far from me and has two or did she say three. Oh yeah three, she pays someone to come and sheer them. She spins yarn both physical and verbal I think. Very nice lady. FYI, I knit and crochet. I can't stand to waste time sitting in front of the tellie and do nothing. Mostly grannny square afghans.

Well I've said enough.
Now remember I love ya and appreciate you being here. Chicknduck, next time ya gotta tell us more, and I'll tell ya what I bought at the fair.

Well we have done the deed and the kids are away back - yeah Rancher a man thing I know! Eldest sons and their Fathers kind of stuff.
I wish I could say everyone here has their health but sadly not so. DH has heart issues and is always ill. He had heart surgery this year. So I need to keep an eye out. Then the Twins have their issues as well. Yeah healthy I guess in one way but loads of hard work as One functions as a baby 18 months. Still in nappies and the other isn;t much better in that we have problems with him like he wont eat carrots as they are too orange and wont go to his work placement as it was raining etc. Hard to deal with brain injury - he functions at about 13-15yrs and needs suppervision a lot! Sheltered living and work placement etc.

I just get a bit tired and low sometimes but it will pass sometimes. I do get low for no reason just stress I think and being a care giver. I have our Little cherub tomorrow - Love your Queen photo
Here is our little one now they change so quick don;t they? Our little angel!!!!!!!

Oesdog, I completely understand. I'v been made redundant. A term I heard in Billy Elliot which I took to mean retired on disability. Life does seem overwhelming at times and I suppose it does for you too. Yet God is still good. Trials prove our faith. Some would say why do these things happen? Why indeed! To give us a chance to show God that we are the kind and caring individuals He wants us to be. When calling up time comes He'll say well done. That said is there anything I can do? Sure I'm miles away but maybe there is something I can do. Other than pray for strentgh that is. You can send me a pm if you like.

Jesse is so beautiful. Such a pretty Irish rose. She couldnt' deny her Irish heritage for anything. My grandmother would have been pleased. Do you call her Jesse or something else?

His eye is on the sparrow
