Good Morning, chicken friends.
Today my coffee is perfect, as I finally remembered to bring a scoop to work so I could measure instead of just trying to pour some into the filter and guest-imate when it looked like the right amount.
Gorgeous grand-baby pictures, Rancher! I can't wait till my EE and OE start laying colored eggs. And in the spring I think I'll hatch out some Ameraucana's for the blue eggs, as that was what I was trying to find in the first place when I bought my first chickens!
Speaking of first eggs, Math Ace - how old were your Marans when they started laying? Mine seems like she is taking FOREVER to lay. I think she is now almost 25 weeks. Her face is getting a little redder, but no squating yet.
Oesdog - I know it's draining to care for someone who is so reliant on you for even basic needs. I did it for a short while, along with taking care of my newborn son, and I felt like I was stretched so thin I wasn't doing a good job of taking care of anyone, including myself. So hang in there and enjoy your grand-daughter today. Free bags of clothes are so much fun to go through - better than Christmas!
Well, today I am officially no longer in my "early" 30s, although I guess I haven't been that for a couple of years. I'm over half-way to 40 now. Funny how I don't feel much older than I did just out of college. Surely there is some type of math formula to calculate age that is similar to how we do chicken math. Like, subtract how old your child is because they keep you young, as well as the number of pets you have, because those do to. So I would be: 36 - 3 = 33 - 8 = 25, Yep, still feel 25!! Most days, anyway.
