Moved the chicken tractor, feed'em the morning treat of white bread and minnows. Cleaned A/C return filter.

Wringin wet with sweat. Changed clothes time number 1 for Dr apt at 0900.

So what- start a set of week end night shifts tonight.

Grand Daughter's birthday, 5 years old. she is spending the day with me. Her mom is a school teacher that has already started back to school. Grand Daughter starts next Wednesday. So she will be staying with Popsie. No complaints she's a good kid, maybe not the quietest, but a good kid.

Good morning!

Rise and shine, my fellow chicken-raising comrades!

Another peaceful country morning here. 70 degrees and very calm. No sunshine though...lots of clouds, but no rain in the forecast for my area.

Had a long sleepless night. Went to bed at 11:30 and was awoken at midnight by what sounded like a coyote...but turned out to be my dog howling at the increasingly close wails of firetrucks. It seems that my neighbor's house (who is about 3/4 mile down the road) was on fire. I could see the flames very clearly from my deck. I prayed all night for my neighbors

...an elderly couple of a still-hard-working farmer and his oxygen-dependent wife. I'm going down this morning to see how bad it really is. The firetrucks were there until 2am with many repeated trips to town for water. I sure hope my neighbors got out of that house.

Well everyone, seeing as I get so busy once I get off the computer, I want to wish all of you a wonderful day

As a retired fireman I know all to well the tragedy and horror of a house fire, I pray your neighbors are okay.
I thought we weren't supposed to get rain until late afternoon but it's here now. Oh well I didn't want to work much this morning anyway.

The rain is supposed to stay south of us today. I wouldn't mind a little of it, though...it would definitely help me get a 2nd cutting off my hay field.

I'm working today...gotta get my coop rearranged. I'm takin' that big red roosting house out today...I built just some sawhorse roosts that I'm putting in there. It'll give the flock a lot more floor space for this winter.

Hey Opa...do you have anything partridge in your flock? I've got some really cute partridge Chantecler chicks (from Ideal) that I need a super good home for!

I've got a little wind, and some thunder and lightning. One of our dogs refused to go outside earlier, so that gave me a clue.
