Coffee's ready...

Well I am day 24 of my Hatching and nothing happened again! Darn!!! I am going to sell that old Bator and buy a new one.

Today has been a bit cold here but not as bad as last week. The mainland England is flooded out. But here it is fine. So I guess we are real thankful for that.

I am going for coffee

Oes

Good morning chicken wranglers,
Oes have you heard them peeping? By day 24 I believe there should be sound. candle the eggs and see what is going on inside.
Rngr cannot sat that (I feel sorry for you -10 this morning here and predict fro tonight is a repeat of the same.
I am ordering some peeps soon about march should be good. I need to do a lot of stuff while the woods are clear ,cut, chop clear fence lines,
repair the fence lines. The good news is while everyone starts enjoying the warm weather I will be swimming in the new found mud.
As much as I complain about cold at least it is not mud.
God Bless!

Karl, sounds like you have a lot of hard work ahead. I need to finish building a rooster coop and pen, some raised beds, and all sorts of outdoor things, but I can't bring myself to start in this cold, wet, muddy weather.

Morning People,
Woke up to a heat spell, 20 degs....... followed with snow.
We get our fair share of mud around here. All there is around here is clay, like modeling clay. I am switching for the most part, the in ground garden to raised beds. I'll keep the in ground garden for late season crops. You just can't work it till the end of May, beginning of June. I'll am like you Stumpy, race to get them done before growing season.

Enjoy your day

Good morning chicken wranglers,
Yes I suppose that we should all be ready for spring. In the country I saw several fields being covered with manure! It made the snow extremely dark. My manure pile is still frozen. It would be great if I could put the taters in, in march but I'm afraid that that would mean it was a dry spring. Speaking of spring it will get up to 36 today . I will be sporting a tank top I think!
Keep me posted I want to hear all the spring buzz!
Oes better luck with the next run of peeps.
God Bless!

quercus21, We have a lot of clay here, too. It's almost like digging cheddar cheese. The muscadines and scuppernongs do pretty well in it, though.

I usually try to put potatoes in during February. We're expecting 50 today, so a nice warm-up.

We received 4" on fri 3 inches on Sat and our forcast went from freezing rain and 43, to 4 to 7 inches of snow, and 32, now that's change you can count on.
