Coffee's ready...

I hope you all had a good Christmas????

I went out to feed the chickens this morning and - I am worried a lot???? My wee Omlet - LOOKS LIKE A BOY?????? How can this be after all these months of her being a girl???? She has NOT crowed at all. But then she has NOT laid an EGG either??? I was told here on BYC she was a Girl - I was told by the VET she was a GIRL. All these months she has looked like a girl and today I looked at her and she has those feathers down feathers starting in her tail???? She has a larger crown and - Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh
WHY WHY WHY - I spent loads of time and money on that darn hen to keep her alive she CAN:T BE A BOY NOW NOT THIS LATE????? All the other Rooos are deffinately Roooos she is just a day young er than Blue and he is a week younger than the others.

HELP - If I trim the tail feathers maybe she will turn into a hen again???? -

We are going to cull the boys of course we have to but what a shame and darn wast of time and effort and money to only get too hens this year and one of them looks like a banty even though she can;t be as she is Leghorn Sussex x - one of ours so I know!!!!!

Any ideas why this could happen to Omlet?????? Could she still be a girl even though she is looking more like a roo???

Good Morning!! I have been crazy busy since going to Disney World, then cooking all day Christamas Eve, then yesterday. Christmas eve we always have oyster stew. It is one of my favorite holiday traditions. I have added having Stone crab claws to it, too. Anyone else do oyster stew? I think it is a midwestern/ German thing. Or English. My mom's side had both, so it's hard to tell. Maybe I'll look it up.
Hope you all had wonderful Christmas's. Rancher, that baby is adorable! All the food being cooked sounds delicious, too. We had a good time at Disney, but it was exausting! A few melt downs and tantrums, but overall it was fun. Don't need to do it again for a while......
Christmas was really nice. Low key with my family in the morning, but when I tried to drive to SIL's house my dash board lit up with every warning light! So I parked the car and FIL had to pick me up. I"m pretty sure he had been drinking too much to do that, but his driving was okay so I didn't say anything. SIL drove me home, which was good, as there is no way I would have let him - four beers later. MIL went overboard with the gifts, but I just expect it now. I did have a good time with them, and I hope they realized that.

Today I'm going to work really hard at doing nothing. Which will be hard for me, given the condition of my house. The Christmas aftermath is everywhere. I'll do a little straighting up, but that's it!! I'm going to relax. Here is a belated Christmas greeting:

Hope your Christmas was Eggs-elent, and all the best in the New Year.

OSEDOG - - - I would LOVE to see a picture of that he/ she of yours , ,, , ,

Chicks, my step father;s family tradition was to have fried oysters CHristmas morning.

I do make oyster stew, but not on Christmas eve. I make it when ever I have a hankering for it

WOW!! That's crazy!!

I am just having wild, blustery wind and a sudden drop in the temperature. The wind popped the side of my coop roof up (just on the addition), and I looked out to see the two EE's wandering around the yard. When I went outside I swear they started talking to me to tell me about it. I put bricks on it for now.

oesdog, sorry about omlet, these things happen to the best of us. Ordered eggs from GA and got 6 chicks from 26 eggs and 5 were roos.

DIL called to say they were getting snow in AL. Such is life.

Oesdog - I'd wait till Omlet crows if I were you. I was convinced my EE was a roo pretty much until she layed an egg. Now we have a mystery on our hands this morning. We got an egg that is noticibly darker, mor olive-colored, than the ones we have been getting. Sam is the Olive Egger (as in Sam I am - do you like green eggs and ham?), but she hasn't been squatting or making any noise that I have noticed, so I wasn't expecting anything yet. I will post a pic later.

Right now I have to run. Just had the car towed, and now we are heading up to visit BF's parents for the day. Deep breath......
It should be fine. I feel bad for them right now, as his mother (the only one working) just lost her job.

Well, gotta run. Have a great day, chicken peeps, and stay warm.
