Evening everyone
Peach cobbler is in the oven and vanilla ice cream is in the freezer.

chics in the sun: mr. vinnny is a '99 astro van. He has his own "quarks" but I'm not going to trade him in. He's a AWD and has came in handy quite a few times in the last couple of years. This winter, coming home for the little rats, we ran into a snow storm. White out conditions and you basically drove down the roads keeping the trees to either side. He has a poorly design flaw with the distributor and it's location. I have to clean the rotor and cap once a year. He loves his gas..................... That is about the only gripes I have with him.
So I take it you never had fried grasshoppers? But I was talking about Black Locust wood. It burns like coal. You need a stove with fire bricks in it.

Tartannik: I am glad everything passed well with you. I can honestly saw, I have never had stones, but I have been a few times.........

Glad to hear you are feeling better, Tartnik! Hope the process wasn't too terrible. I've heard people say it is worse then labor. Hard to believe.

I knew you meant a locus tree, Kaj. That was just the picture that first popped into my head. But no, I've never tried fried grasshoppers.

I'd take some of the peach cobbler, though.

I love my VW camper, too, but it just isn't practical anymore. It was fine for the boy and I, but now if we all go camping (which we usually do), we have to take both the van and another vehicle. The air in it doesn't work well, which can be pretty miserable for driving around Florida - especially since the engine is built under the back seat and it gets so hot you could bake bread on it. What I could get for selling it would help keep my payments pretty low on a big SUV (combined with trading in the Prius), and I would only have one vehicle to pay car insurance on.

We had quite a storm yesterday afternoon. I had a 25 foot tree split in half and fall partially onto the part of the coop that sticks out with the nest boxes. I don't know if there is any damage, and I hope it didn't traumatize my chickens. I was driving during some of the worst of it - through some quickly rising water - and was really wishing I had an SUV then!! But the little hybrid that could got me home, where we still have no cable or internet.

Well, gotta get ready to go back to the second day of a training. At least it is a good one.

We lucked out, just a dusting of snow last night. and a "balmy" 29 degs this morning. It feels like we flipped over and the worst of the winter is behind us.

chics in the sun: You should try some (grasshoppers). They are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. They taste like chicken (just joking about them tasting like a chicken, but it seems around here, everything tastes like a chicken). How was the turtle soup?, "good, it tasted like chicken" etc. Are you ready for the shocker of mpg between the vw & hybrid to a SUV? Gas in town goes for $3.35/gal 87oct. and I saw a high of $3.45/gal 87oct yesterday. I was in Mass., yesterday and was able to get gas for $3.11/gal 87oct.

I use to hate doing storm damage trees.

Another warm morning 22degs and cloudy

Good for you Sissy with your weight reduction. It's a never ending battle here. I have learn (and trying to stay with it) is that I have to overall reduce the quantity of what I eat even tho I am still hungry. We have changed our diet where we eat very little if any process foods, 99.99% of our meals I cook at home. Yea I had peach cobbler the other day and that was enough sweets to last me for awhile. I went to the docs the other day, fully clothed and with a heavy vest and shirt on, 230lbs.

Off to making bread today

Yes, yes, I know!!

I will have serious gas pump shock. I am only looking at the SUV's that have the highest MPG, which are all better than my VW. My Prius had over $4000 worth of work done on it over Christmas - new battery, among other things - and now it is only getting 39mpg, down from 48. I need to take it back to the dealership.
The tree guys are taking down two trees and grinding up a huge pile of limbs for me this morning. It was not cheap.

What kind of classes are you taking, Pete?
