Coffee's ready...

A belated good morning to you all. Been busy at the office today.

Chickylaura, it sure does seem like a nurse should check on all their patients once a shift. Hope he gets better there!
Tartannik, we are in shorts and sunglasses now that "winter" is over. That's just for those of us in the "sunshine state", though. The weather has been picture-perfect these last few days. I only got one little blue egg yesterday, so I'm pretty sure it is just one of the Ameraucanas is laying. This is her:

I think I caught something from my Mom. My throat glands are swollen and I keep getting dizzy, which is what she was complaining of last week. It's a very strange sensation - like my office is swimming. Hope it goes away before we are supposed to take this overnight hike this weekend!

Shorts are a couple of months out around here but the soup is on "in the pasture anyway!
Chicky once I had some hemoroids removed and the recovery was worse than the hemmy's, I assure you that is not a play ground. Nothing can make you more uncomfortable than your posterior.
I pray heartily that your husbands sufferage is relieved!
Chics nice pic hope you recover from the head congestion.
God Bless!

A great big thank you goes out to everyone that was sending get well wishes to my DH! He has been discharged!

He would like me to stay home with him tomorrow, but I feel torn between him and work. The dr. said he'd fill out FMLA paperwork for me, so I guess one more day off won't hurt... Diagnosis was duodenitis, which is weird. But, he's sitting next to me on the couch watching TV. I am so so glad that he is home!

Tartannik and chics - I promise you that I am NOT wearing shorts or sunglasses. We had more snow last night.

Pennsylvania weather is very different from Florida weather!

karl - DH does seem much much better than he was, thanks again for your well wishes!!!

chics - I love colored eggs. I have at least 2 chickens that lay green eggs, but they haven't left me colored eggs in quite a long time. I would love at least one that laid bluish eggs like yours are. I am getting a surprise pullet mix (10 birds) from Ideal next week, and I hope that I get at least one or two EEs. I love a mixed egg basket, and so do my (few) egg customers. I also ordered 5 naked necks and 10 Cornish X. My first foray into meat birds... I have a banty roo that I need to rehome to the soup pot. I haven't butchered before, but I'm thinking Friday will be the big day. If I can get the courage to do it.

Shorts and no shoes....oh and a T-shirt....got a lot done around the yard...trimmed the bushes, painted the pool deck, planted flowers, fixed the BBQ grill, scrubed the concrete next to the deck, hmmmmm.....put out weed and feed for the lawn, and cleaned up the doggy land mines in the back yard

. I was very busy on my day off.

Hey Everyone - -

I am with the shorts and tank top people. . . . I am seeing all kinds of things starting to pop out of the garden. We have had two weeks with highs in the 70's.

Week 3 is on the way too!

I am

that we don't get hit with a late freeze like we did last year! It was around the first week in April and temps went down to 20 degrees. It took out EVERYTHING I had in the garden AND then we didn't have time to get things replanted and mature before our EXTREME summer heat hit. . . .

Chick - - She is beautiful!

Good Morning. Thanks for the well wishes, but I actually don't feel that bad - that's the weird part. No sniffling or sneazing, no fever. Just discomfort in my glands and up into my left ear again, and the weird sensation that I'm walking in a fun-house, especially in the long hallways here at school. It's not as bad this morning.

I'm just happy to finaly have my Ameraucana and her blue eggs. Some of you already heard this, but my White Leghorn was sold to me as an Ameraucana, then BF bought me another "Ameraucana" at a feed store when I was upset that first one was not even CLOSE to being an Am - at that point I knew enough to know that one was an EE - then I had to get another little OE chick to keep the EE company. I put the two Ameraucana eggs under the Leghorn when she went broody, along with six Blue Plymouth Rocks. So my Leghorn not being what she was supposed to be led me to have over twice as many chickens as originally planned...... Chicken Math strikes again:
4 chicks + 1 wrong breed = 9 chickens

Well, gotta meet with one of my mentoring kids. I think we've finally got it through to him that he needs to come to school to get decent enough grades to graduate - a 1.3 GPA is not sufficient.

ETA: Good to hear your husband is back home, chickylaura!

Good morning chicken wranglers
It is sale barn day for me ! I am hoping for feeder pigs or what ever good deals come up. Chickens and rabbits go for next to nothing but I would not ever introduce full grown chickens into my flock because of parasites and stuff . I'm a cow and pig buyer only . Chester whites are a fav of mine what do you thinbk rancher?
It is good that by Wed we all seem to be in recovery for the weekend. God Bless!

Morning Folks,

Lots to do to get thing ready before we go to AL. so DD has an easy time of taking care of everyone while we're gone. Hope to bring back some eggs to hatch and taking some down.

Chicky say hey to DH and tell him I hope he's feeling better soon. Like the physical therapist said to me when I whined about bad knees and not being able to do my job, "it's not the end of the road , just changing directions". She was right of course. A change that involved having chickens.

Good Morning, everyone! The coffee house has been quite these last few days. I've had a long week. I won't get into it on our happy little thread - lets just say it's not a good week when your town is mentioned on the MSN home page. I'm so ready to go hiking and leave this mess of humanity behind for a few days. We are only going about 11 miles total, I think, but it feels longer when you have to carry overnight supplies and food. It's the perfect weather for it.

Unfortunately the air conditioning unit broke at our school, and by 10 I'm expecting my office to feel like a broiler room. Maybe I could open the window - it looks really heavy, but I think if I stand on the desk next to it I can manage it.

Well, have a good day folks.
