Thank you! They are beautiful hens. I must get some photos to post on here!Wow, those are great colors! I really want an Olive egger!
Thanks! Her eggs really do stand out! She’s quite a small chicken - as are most of my EEs / Olive Eggers, but that doesn’t seem to effect egg production and size.Ooh beautiful! The new layer is my favourite of them! I'm hoping I'll get some nice green colours from my EE's but I still have to wait awhile.

That’s a good idea! Thanks for posting it here, I think I’ll try that.I use a large syringe and needle to blow out the eggs. The needle is sharp enough to cut through the shell. Then I shake the egg with the needle still inside to try and break everything up. I can then use the syringe to blow into the egg instead of popping an eye out of its socket.
Sometimes I can do it with just one hole by filling the egg with air and pulling the needle out. The pressure pushes the egg insides right back out the same hole. But I've also popped them doing that. LOL They actually make a 'POOOT!"
Interesting.....and I've heard that EE's are slow to develop but with three of my four it's been just the opposite - they've all been the biggest and fastest to develop in their groups. My fourth one definitely isn't a runt either but isn't quite as beastly as my other three. Thanks! Her eggs really do stand out! I'd love to see pictures of who lays what (and I'm also a sucker for adorable chickie pictures!!) ! In the eggs you posted earlier, what kinds of hens do you have other than the Olive Eggers? I love that pink egg, too!We are in Australia, the only blue egg layers avaible are araucanas, which the type we have here, is quite small. My araucana crosses are smaller, even though they were crossed with standard breeds. There are some larger ones available, but with the two girls I got recently, which I found on gumtree, were the last two left, and the smallest in the picture shown. I was not put off by how small they were, and was quite surprised because I would probably would have picked them even if I had the choice between the others, because they were so pretty. I think people were put off by their size, so they were the ‘leftovers’, but I’m so happy I got them. Wonderful egg colour & size, great personality & very pretty. I’ll get some photos of them today.

I adore petite hens....and I have a number of bantams. I was actually very surprised at how big my easter eggers were becoming because they are so much bigger than all their flock mates except the older Golden Comets who are already laying - but I don't think it will be long before my two eldest EE's are bigger than them even! That being said, despite their size, my Comets are laying tiny eggs still - though it's just now the end of their first week of laying so I assume they will get bigger over time (I'm told they are supposed to lay xl eggs!)
These are my EE'S. I wish there was a way to know what colours they would lay just based on how how they look but I also love how unique they all are!
Laverne (r) and Opal (l); 13 weeks old. In my head I imagine they will lay blue and grey eggs.

Gilda (in the middle); 9 weeks old. In my head I imagine she will lay brighter green eggs..

Maisie; 9 weeks old. In my head I imagine she will lay darker olive eggs.

Haha...I know there is no actual connection with how an EE looks with the colour of her eggs, but it's fun to imagine in the meantime to see how my predictions turn out!! All for fun!
