What are you running your humidity at? I bought 41 Serama eggs from 3 different people and I am down to 27 eggs. The first set of 10 go into lockdown this Saturday. I will be candling them before to see if there are anymore quitters. I am praying that I get a few to hatch. Seramas are very difficult to hatch and shipped eggs make it even worse. A few days ago I found a local breeder and if I don't get anything out of these eggs I am going to contact him and see about getting some eggs from him.I have 12 fertile serama eggs that are ten days incubated as of today. Lock down is on the 31st.![]()
My last Serama's didn't all make it. Some shrink wrapped and two hatched. So we will see what happens this time.![]()
I have found with the darker eggs you need 2 light sources to see through. What I do is place the eggs on my homemade candler and then use my mini Mag flashlight on top. You can't see everything but you can tell if something is alive in there. I had just posted in another thread about where I got my flashlights. They were like $1.40 on ebay and even came with 3 AAA batteries.I was so excited to candle the eggs tonight,, but they are so dark I can barely
see a thing. I can see they all look like they are fertile but can't tell if they are
alive.... I guess i just put them back in there and wait???
I love my mini mags. I bought a Cree last month and finally have Marans eggs set so I will be able to use it next week when I candle. My best tool for candling is my mini maglight L.E.D. with the rubber guard. Nearly perfect for candling and blazes light even through brown shells with little problem.
