DAY 10...just candled the EEs . 10 of 15 look good. A few clears(shipped) .2 have a dark area in tthe middle but too small for day 10. I think. Havent thrown anything away. yet

Last hatcher of the Palominos Bantam Brahmas # 5 died i nthe middle of zipping Eggtopsied and his tummy seemed really squishy and sort of bloated so i think he had a problem
.Last egg unhatched had died about day 10-12
The good news is the 4 babies are doing great eating away now Perfect.
They love when i crumble the crumbles on the paper towel . They eat like the food bowl isnt even in with them
They are really too cute.

10/15 is really good for shipped eggs. 4/6 of the Palomino's is also terrific. The difference in local eggs is amazing isn't it?

yea I wouldn't throw them out unless you see an obvious blood ring or they smell. i have been amazed at some I thought for sure had quit and still hatched. With EE eggs I always have trouble because I can't see much in their shell.

That squishy bit was probably just the yolk still absorbing. Late in incubation, the yolk becomes an extension of the chicks belly and gets absorbed so no nutrition is wasted. If it was soft and maybe had a yellowish to it, that's probably all it was.

Congrats on the other chicks tho!!

Ok so right now I have 82 (88 to start tossed the 2 infertile bantam eggs & 4 turkey eggs) expected on the 17th, with another 48 now in the ultrabator. Ive got the coolerbator on standby for mods to the ultrabator on the fly. Yeehaaw I'll be hatchin alll winter long.

My bantam girl gave up on her clutch about 10 days into it. I am sad and disappointed, but sort of happy at the same time. Hers were set to hatch just as we were heading out of town for Thanksgiving, so I guess it's all OK.

Day 21 update: 3 of the Araucana's have hatched with another zipping. The last pipped egg has made it's pip bigger. Marans: 2 have hatched with another 3 pipped. 5 more to go.
