Can you trim the nails? I know thats aLOT of chickens to do that to but fi some are done everyday and more than one person is doing it, you could everntually get them done.

Instead of letting the chickens go to rendering plants would you ever consider letting them get new lives elsewhere?

Sorry i cant answer that atm I will bring a tape measure tommorrow but i think it is like 1 -1.2 feet wide and long. but not positive. Even though that is small 5 chickens was the only way we could run with out running in the negative. the parts are to expensive to have to few. I will go measure though.

yes of course they can go to the ouside world as i say it. the problem is just finding the people that want to come and pick some up. The toe nails are out of the question. If we spent the time and money to have someone do there nails we woudl never be about to walk the rows as its called and check the chickens.

I applaude your efforts to keep yourself from the same path as the majority of the commercial egg industry. However, talking about your operation is not dispelling myths. You pointed out yourself that had you not taken these birds for your operation they would already have been rendered even as they shipped in their bedraggled state, shy of feathers from the overcrowded conditons they came from.

Again, kudos to you for breaking with the industry. I can not understand though your need to simultainously defend it... You are tilting at windmills.

Thats really awesome! Too bad you weren't closer

I am sure there are people who would love to take some if they only kew you would do that, most would not even consider it.

There aren't any commercial farm egg myths that I know of. LOL.

Thanks for answering my questions.

I understand that somethings must be sacrificed to keep from running in the negatives. That is why it's commercial farming and not backyard farming. I applaud your efforts to make them as comfortable as you can within staying in the margins. I know it is really hard to balance commercial keeping.

What you could do, is when the hens are nearing the end of profitable production, you could post in the sale-trade-giveaway section. You may be surprised at how many people would want them. Just a suggestion, there may be dangers associated with this, as some people would not understand you did the best you could without breaking the bank. Maybe something to think about.
