I did not vote for Obama, but that is what is good about voting, I got the CHANCE to voice my opinion, hopefully the winner will do a good job, and I can say maybe I should have voted the other way, but as of this morning Obama recieved 53% of all votes, hopefully that will inspire him and his cabinet to strive to prove the other 47% that they should have voted thier way. I hope (and would say pray, but that would put the double wammy on this thread) that they prove me wrong, and 4 years from now I will be first in line to pull the OBAMA lever, because he has done such a fantastic job. At least here, voter turnout set records for turnout, so the Majority has spoken, so best of luck to all that won, not just in the presidential race, but in all catagories, enough said, now get to work, and uphold some of those campaign promisses.

First I'll say I am proud that the American people turned out in record numbers to vote. The USA did make history last night with the first black president. I just hope that wasn't the reason. I realize that we do need change, I just hope it's the right kind. I didn't vote for him because one of the first things he wants to do is endanger my DH's job. He works as an engineer on the coal line.

See... this is the reason threads DO get shut down. Fear of speaking your mind and calling FOUL on people that do (in a friendly manner). SAY that you voted for McCain, that's fine!! Don't be scared. I voted for Obama, i'm not afraid to say, i wouldn't be scared if i had voted the other way. This is the friendly discussion that we've been striving for! Just because it's being discussed doesn't mean it's gonna get outta hand. Have FAITH!!

Notice there isn't anyone saying "OOOH!!! In YOUR FACE, REPUBLICANS!!" I would hope that if the outcome were for McCain we wouldn't have seen any then, either. Ya think? No need for gloating, afterall.
It's all been very friendly. Carefully watch all the friendlyness happen, MODS!!

I think the key is to ignore the inflammatory posts when they occur. We make the choice on whether or not we allow such things to get us mad or not, and whether we respond in kind. The strategy is to raise yourself above such behavior and not "take the bait" so to speak.

jnjross we had issues with online posting of results in a recent election in my town. It wasn't that the results didn't come in, it was that they did not update the website, so it looked like there were problems when in reality there were none. It was annoying though for those of use looking for results.

It took me over 2 hours to votel I've never seen anything like it in 20 years of voting! I can't wait to see what the turnout was.

I cant bleieve how high obama's numbers where to mccain's. I really thought it would be neck to neck!. Mccain had a very powerful farewell speech. I voted third party

. Anyway I was glad to participate in this election and cant wait to do it again.

I believe that this will be the worst 4 years with Obama. I cant believe that anybody actually voted for him. I hope they have fun paying high taxes, 40% capital gains tax, and 28% tax on all home sales.

And he already has it in the works to help people pay off home loans. Why should we help people pay off home loans, when they were the ones that had to buy huge houses, got adjustable loans, etc? Its not right. You made that mistake, now you have to fix it.

They really weren't that high. It was a pretty equal race for the most part. McCain just got edged out in a couple of the big states.
