The good thing about him actually winning and taking over office is that we'll actually see what HE wants to do, rather than what other people say he wants to do. You may be right, Sundown, but maybe not. Hopefully you're wrong for everyones sake. I'd also like to add that this country has a HUGE debt that needs to be payed down. The only way we can do that is to come up with more money somehow. No one wants to pay more taxes or ANY taxes, for that matter, but it has to come from somewhere. Same with Energy, it's not going to be easy or cheap to adopt a new energy plan, but it NEEDS to be done, for the WORLDS sake. And if we don't lead by example, how will it get going?

I, too, am proud that so many people voted. We need to take this right seriously in every election. Too many people sacrificed and are still willing to sacrifice their lives to make sure we retain theis right. My prayers are for all of our elected officials to do a good job.

That's true. I was hoping that a lot more people would write in my name for President; however, I woke up this morning and found that I'd been beaten. Hopefully, Obama did not beat me by just ONE vote because in my humility and not wanting to appear over-confident, I voted for him.
That's okay though, in 2012 I'll know better.

I didnt see your name on the list of ADDITIONAL presidential candidates, or you could of had my vote, I didnt realize there were 9 choices for President, now I learn I should have wrote in your name, sorry for not be more voter ready,
Joe in 12 he's the man for you.

Thanks for your full support. I am officially hereby making you my campaign fund collector/manager for 2012 because I know you are capable of doing great things; don't disappoint me. Have all contributors make the checks out to me personally.

Congradulations from another member on the North of the 49th. Your voter turn out is really something to be proud of, especially in the case of people waiting hours, I have never waited more than a few minutes. As the OP said, our apathy is horrendous.

I think it's really historic in many ways. It's a huge change, it seems to me he is more focused on the home land and your selves more than other countries and their people/problems. That shift is going to take some getting used to for sure. But change is not all bad, and I don't think you should fear some of things he has campaigned on. We have a few of those things already in place here, like some gun control and it has not hurt us at all, I own and use more guns now than before. Social programs do cost but they give too, and it works here. Give it the old collage try for 4 years and see, you do get to vote again and it's sooner than you think. We have had good and bad offices and both last the same duration, and there has never been an agreement of which one was the good or the bad here either.

I have my hat off to both the candidates for the long haul you guys put them through to get elected. That is a test for sure. Our election was announced much later and done much sooner so we take it easy on them by comparison.

The voter turn-out was spectacular, but was also to be expected given the circumstances. I will bite my tongue hard now and go my way.

This is a tad off topic, but in regard to gas prices: Oil is a limited supply commodity. I don't see any way it will ever go down for an extended period of time ever again. Supply and demand will have a much greater impact on price than politics in the long run (Just my opinion, it's an extremely complex system) Don't forget the other developing countries that are also taking a bite out of the supply. When something is highly sought after, and it's in limited supply, it's usually more expensive. Cut the demand and suddenly the seller can't sell it so they drop their prices.

Same with taxes: The money has to come from somewhere unfortunately. I find the same problem in Canada. Many people want many services, but it's not free. Soooo...where does the money come from? Yup, you got it, our own pockets.

The best way I can figure out to deal with such things is to write to your local politicians and make your voice heard. And if they don't listen, vote them out next time round
