to the new CTers! My DH teaches at Tolland High. We're a bit further south though, in Windham. Grew up in Middletown and spent every fall at the Durham Fair.

Hi All-
I have a gorgeous Rhode Island Red rooster who needs a new home.

He is a good protector, was hand raised and comes when he is called! He is almost 10 months old.

I'm struggling with losing him, but I have 4 roosters and they are abusing my poor girls with too much attention!

I also have a Buff Orpington, that I would consider giving away to the right home (with visitation rights? ;-)

I'm really not happy about losing any of them, but my poor girls are looking so bedraggled and mistreated!

Just checking in from Plainfield..I can't wait for spring!!! Had the girls out and about today. They were enjoying themselves. Hope you all are having a good winter. Think SPRING!!!

While we're talking re-homing...anyone interested in a gorgeous Silver Spangled Hamburg cockerel? He's 31 weeks old and super docile. I just can't keep him in my neighborhood.

You're getting a new coop?! lucky girl. your old one was nice, so I'm going to guess you've outgrown it. All the eggs in the bater?

LOL, you're right, got eggs in the bator now and will have Silver Spangled Hamburgs in there in a week or so (as soon as Simon's done with the ladies).

We're keeping the first coop, for the original residents, but the "Little Deuce Coop" is for the Hamburgs and the Marans. It 8x8 and feels HUGE to me going from a 4x6! My husband is building it for me (any excuse to use the power tools don'tchaknow!). He's 85% done with it, just needs to roof and side it. We're going with cedar shingles.

The shingles were his idea, not mine b/c I'm the frugal shopper and he watches "This Old House" too much! LOL

It's currently being occupied by my 6 week old Black Copper Marans babies in the nursery area and the Hamburgs are being confined to the remainder of the coop for, er, um, their conjugal visits. I SO need to find a new home for Simon, I really, really, really don't want to have to put him down. He's such a gentle boy and so very pretty. <sniff, sniff>

Here's a sneak peek at the new digs:
