Connecticut!

Can anyone tell me the locations of chicken supply/feed stores in New Haven county?
Agway in North Haven has about 2 feet of shelf space devoted to chicken supplies (starter crumbles and feeding dishes, that's it), and we love Guilford Feed but is a haul for us.

I am in Wolcott next to Waterbury so we are New Haven county. The animal house in Wolcott will special order anything for you and carries Blue Seal.

When you say Guilford Feed does that mean LakeSide Feed in North Guilford? I go there for my chicken, goat, and everything farm supplies. Jerry is really helpful about making decisions and they have reasonable prices

Derby has a feed store but not much selection or supplies. There is a Garden store on Rt 121 in Milford that advertises chicken feed but I haven't stopped in yet. I usually drive to Monroe and get supplies from Benedicts and feed from Out Front.

The Yale farm looking for chickens- is that Common Ground? My kids are going to do a week of summer camp there. They have lots of programs and even a High School.

I felt so bad for my lonely hen I ended up getting a chicken locally at a garden center - they surprisingly seemed to get along better than expected-the first night we separated them after dark, after that they went to roost at dusk and we just had to shut the door (short outbreak within the pen with the newbie tho lol)

Last time we introduced a chicken to the other one it was not as smooth-they charged each other alot but finally settled down.

The new chicken is laying, our old girl who is almost 2 years old does not lay regularly

sometimes she produces an egg with a real shell but most of the time they are crushers or weird shaped shells-can you eat those weird shell eggs as long as they have a solid shell? I do have calcium chips available if they need them

Anyway, yep we have 2 chicken "pets", it is so easy to be a softy. they are so adorable
