I'm in ivoryton. I usually go to Shagbark Lumber across the river in east haddam (goodspeed bridge). There is a feed store up in killingworth but they've been closed every time I go there. Then there's an Agway on rt 66 between Middletown and 691 that carries chicken feed too. What are ya look'n fer?

I use to get my chicken stuff from a place in Clinton but now they only sell feed.
But i need a place that sells de-worming stuff/medicine and other essentials.
I'll check out the places you guys recommended :]

Hello!! I am new to raising - started in April this year with 10 bantams... they are all doing great (many thanks to the members here who's post provided a lot of guidance) !!

We have one problem though, we ended up with 3 roos - one OE, one Mille Fleur and one Mille Fleur bearded (thought he was a hen until two weeks ago when he joined in the noise-making:/) ...

We live next to Norwich in a neighborhood with close houses and we're just waiting for the town to show up from one of their complaints - does anyone know of a farm that would take two of them (from what I understand, if we have only one, the remaining one will probably only crow a couple of times in the morning and evening - not all day long like the three of them are doing now!!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Anyone here in Tolland involved in the news story about Luna the Husky that killed her neighbors chickens-sounds like she got out, killed one, was warned, got out again and killed more - she was under threat of being put down but now they're going to send her to a Husky rescue group out of state it sounds like. Really hoping I don't ever run into a situation like that - that's really no-win for anyone. The chickens are safer now but I'd be watching my back whenever that neighbor was around, ugh...

I could not find any takers for my roo silkies so I took them to the Middlefield Livestock auction. No telling where they will wind up as there were farmers, restaurant owners and hobbiest buyers there. Only consolation is that without the roos it is less likely that the neighbors will complain.

BTW, our remaining cochin bantam roo crows at all times of the day, whenever the mood strikes him................. he's out in the back yard crowing his fool head off right now. r

Why was the DOG warned? The dog does not speak or read English. Warn the OWNERS! Poor dog is doing what dogs do and get sent away because it's owner is too stupid to keep it penned up?

Welcome to chicken-keeping and BYC from Suffield!

While it may be true that roosters encourage each other to crow, it is NOT true that solo roosters will crow less. This I know from experience.

If I were you, I would not wait to get rid of the boys until a neighbor complains b/c that will cause problems with the town that you really don't want. I learned that one the hard way.

Sorry for your aggravation.
