Consolidated Kansas

Darin, Thanks for the info on holding the eggs. I guess I should change my practices as far as game birds go. I do know I hatch better with the chicks if they are put in every day to two days. I pretty much get 100% with them. I'll take your advice and try that. I have never however been able to come up with a 55 degree place to store eggs. I tried a small fridge and put it on the highest setting but it was still about 40 degrees. I have a thermoelectric cooler and it gets even colder. My basement is the coolest place in the house and it runs about 68 or so.
I had two more eggs to put in the hatcher today so I'll see what they do. I never wash eggs either. I've found that increases my hatch rate dramatically. I try to gather a couple times a day so they don't get dirty or covered in poo.

Well at 68º germ growth starts 28º eggs freeze. I had gotten some quail eggs from a guy locally, and he had kept them in his refrigerator at I believe he said 40º I gave those eggs to 1iedwillie too try to hatch he got a 50% hatch rate out of those eggs, and they were about ten to fourteen day's old. Game birds seem to with stand a longer wait time then a chicken. So I read granted I have yet to hatch a game bird, I am basing everything off what I read on the Quail, Pheasant, and Chukar site. I wont be able to deny or confirm any of this until later this week or next.

A few great people to listen too are JJMR794, Robo, Tony K T, and Riffecreek.
Great info these guys have on Game bird's
