Been lurking on website....finally brave enough to write!
We are in Wichita....anxiously awaiting chick arrival....Brand new to this whole chicken thing! Can hardly wait to join the fun! Seeing all the pictures of the coops has really inspired us...We have an awesome chicken notebook with lists and pictures of our ideas we have gathered from BYC.

Welcome to the group! I just joined in January & am also waiting on my chicks to arrive. Ordered my chicks online from MPC & they are scheduled to ship the last week of March. Not sure I can wait until then. May end up buying a few at Atwoods in Andover later this week, or at the swap in Yates Center this weekend. I've had everything ready to go since the beginning of January & am struggling to be patient.
Looking forward to learning right along with you.

Hey David, don't know if you saw my post - probably MANY pages back by now - but Atwoods Andover has the bins set up and said they will be getting chicks in later this week.

I saw it. I was going to call them on Thursday to see if they had come in yet. If so, I may have to take a long lunch break to drive over & check things out. If you hear anything please let me know. Thanks!
Was planning on going to the swap in Yates Center on Saturday, but ended up winning Shocker basketball tickets for the game against Drake on Saturday. The game is an early one (12:30) so I don't think I'll have time to do both.

I think I have my DH talked into it!! He is so dang stubborn! What color are they? Hold down the fort down there and I hope the storm doesn't do any damage. I need to get a stake for the side of my dog panel-- it scooted over in the storm and 4 chickens got out. The up side is that when they saw me, they came running at me full steam and I just picked them up easy. They love me. LOL!!

I love that first pic with the roo and the hen both standing in identical stances! Wow - what a tail on that guy - he's more than half tail LOL. Beautiful birds. The white earlobes are really eye-catching too.
