I can barely find time to read all the posts! Y'all are making me really want a puppy, but I just DO NOT have enough room
I just got an email from Woodard Mercantile in Maize
Woodard Mercantile Announces 2012 Chick Days

When: Every Weekend in March, 2012

Where: Woodard Mercantile
4160 N Maize Road
Maize, KS 67101

This means I MUST STAY AWAY. I'm still one bird over the limit until my friends build their coop and take a couple. The good news is that my neighbor couldn't figure out how many I actually have, since they won't hold still, so maybe no one else can, either. Besides, if anyone asks, the 2 silkies are actually his birds

Hey I miss seeing you around!! The kids have two lepoard frog tadpoles swimming around. That is great that you have talked your friends into chickens and they are now building a coop!! Send them our way if they want some online poultry enabling and support! LOL!! Hope your mom is feeling much better!

I got that same email today too!! I was trying to figure out how the heck I got on their mailing list! Ah well.. That also means I better not head their way. BUT I thought it was really cool that they were going to offer informational sessions! This is what it said:

Throughout the duration of Chick Days, Woodard Mercantile will offer
advice and guidance on how to raise baby chickens from freshly hatched
chicks through laying, including details on proper nutrition to provide
the best eggs. They will also advise on the feeding of baby rabbits, goats
(kids), fish (fingerlings), and other springtime baby animals. During the
Great Starts

promotion period, Purina dealers will be providing special
cost-savings on Purina brand feeds -- perfect feeds for these baby
animals.

Maybe I just give up too easy. When they can't stand I feel sorry for them and take it off. When I used strips of bandaids they could stand but they wouldn't stay on. Patience has never been one of my virtues.

Yep there's sliding bar. My computer was acting funky. First I had no monitor then I had no mouse. Finally just shut it down and switched mouses. It's working but this different mouse feels weird in my hand. I'm feeling kind of witchy tonight so I'd better just chillax this evening and see what my mood does.

Are you SURE we're not sisters...???? LOL!!! You speak my language! My mood comes and go-- easy to rile up and fast to cool. Like a switch. It even leaves me wondering what the heck just happened. hehe!

Are you using the bandaids or vet wrap? I bet you need to leave it on longer. But we better ask Ivy our Yoda of chick fixing. Speaking of... I had to take away Yoda's egg (that she's had for two days now) today because she got out of the nest box and sat on the OUTside of it again all day!!!! REALLY?!?!?! I'm glad I have an incubator, because this bird would drive me up the wall if I didn't. I put her back in the box again and she's been in there-- even after getting up to eat tonight. She's very hormonal, too. She went after Zelda and Zorro and grabbed them on the heads and told them to get the heck out of the way so she could eat. I went back out there a while later and she was all happy clucking in her nest again.

I can't seem to get anything to work right since the forum switch. I'm sure my probs are pretty much on me though, so.....

Welcome to the new members! Feel free to jump in any time. We also have a Kansas Poultry Swap & Farm Animal Swap on Facebook, so come visit those also.

Well I have a new egg customer who sounds like she will probably keep me cleaned out of eggs, so that's nice. She came today & took all the ones I had. I told her that I'm getting some more new chicks in April so by fall I should have even more eggs. That is if the others aren't all molting.

Danz, I've been feeding those pups a big bowl of hamburger, potatoes or rice, & their dry dog food at night & the last two days I don't think they even tried to get into my coop. Tonight I fed them & they just passed out I think from being full, they didn't even argue that much over going into the dog house. I saw Lily just passed out sleeping on the ground in the dog pen. Maybe if I can keep them full enough they will leave my eggs alone.

IVY, your new pup Britt is so cute! She looks very happy in her new home.

Well we have a storm headed this way, so I probably won't be on here very much longer, arggghhh. I spent several hours out in the garage working on rabbit cages, cleaning them, & moving rabbits around. I just came in to find a text from my hubby telling me a storm is headed here.

Trish, that's a great idea!! keep them so stuffed that they won't be hungry for the eggs. LOL

Must be the same storm that's heading our way. The radar doesn't make it look nice at all. I'm hoping my plant covers don't get ripped off. sigh.

Tweety & Trish-- we just had hail come thru here and the wind is RIDICULOUS! Right now, our lights are flickering. I got my flash light and it's in my pocket just in case. I think the Emporia, ELDorado and Agusta areas look to be the worst, but we did have a tornado spotted in Hutchinson a while ago--but the storm moved on out quickly. I'm starting to worry that our crazy hot summer... and mild winter... that our Spring is going to be bad. I think the storm is mostly past us, too. It didn't seem to last long. I was out in the barn when the front was first coming in and the horses were a bit freaked out.

Okay, better head to to bed or I'm going to be dead in the morning. I'm so tired lately and can't seem to catch up on sleep. (probably need more iron)
