Consolidated Kansas

We had quite a storm here last night as well. I sat and watched channel 13 where they were giving a blow by blow. Well... until it got here and we lost he signal. A tornado went over Council Grove but didn't touch down. I was thinking it's too bad my buyers have taken over insurance on the house. But I guess it's till standing. I haven't been out to check for damage yet.
Looks like a busy day today. I need to go to town and pay the house payment, see my parents etc etc.
I have been worthless the last few days. I really need to get proactive and get things done. DH is working nights. He said after he sleeps a while he is putting a new blade on the table saw. Then I can start cutting my boards for the trailer. I'm splitting 2 X4s into 2X2s to save money. I still had over $200 worth of lumber. And I'll have over $100 worth of poultry netting for it. Heaven knows how much I'll spend on hinges and latches. I haven't decided yet whether I'm going to put in pop doors or regular hinged doors. That is going to be a job in itself because I am putting in 10 separate runs inside and out.
I had 5 baby ducks manage to escape the outside baby duck pen yesterday and 3 of them got into the sled I leave for water for the big ducks and drowned. I hatched 3 more this morning. I guess that replaces them. It's sad though.
Hawkeye I am a lot like you. I have little temper flares but rarely does anyone see them. And like you they go as quickly as they come. I've been a bit of a rip lately. I think it is because the weather has been kind of gloomy and it makes me hurt. I've been in a slump and haven't gotten much done, which makes me dislike myself to some extent.

Sorry about your baby ducks, that is sad. Those birds can find a way out of anything! I had 3 birds escape this morning after I let them out. The wind blew down a piece of hardware cloth I had stapled onto the coop. I guess it got pulled off, left a gap. I just took out BOSS and sprinkled it in their run and they ran back inside. They were running the perimeter as it was wanting in. I had two Polish, and a Wyandotte get out. I think that's smart to rip your wood and save some $$. I hate dreary dark and cold weather. It depresses me and I am worthless -- can't seem to get myself motivated for nothing. The second the sun is out, I'm ready to get outside and do everything!

All okay here in Lawrence.. Too bad about Harveyville. I heard it got hit pretty bad and their church is down with one dead :(
I didn't hear about that! Wow, that's terrible! You usually don't hear about deaths unless they just had no warning. So sad. :(

I'm hoping the sun comes out and dries out my mini coop out there so I can paint and try to finish today. That would be nice! Then on to the next project!

We made it thru the storm ok down here. Did not see any damage on my bus route. Im still glad we have the storm shelter. Seems to me the storms just keep getting worse, and more of the bad storms to boot.
Hawkeye your eggs are in the mail.
Ivy give me a call when you drag out of bed.
Not much going on, trying to get ready for the show at Vinta, Ok. Catch you all later.

I've been looking on the news online but there doesn't seem to be much reported yet. I imagine everyone is still sifting through the damage. So sad and unexpected.

We were watching it yesterday allot too, we were right in it's patch between council grove, herington, wilsey. When they'd say so many miles past Burdick, that was right over our heads...Just listened and held our breath. I went out and we are muddy but everyone ok.
Is everyone ok? Was anyone we chat with in the area that got hit?
Danz, So sorry about the duckies.... Man that beaks your heart when that happens...
Xena was bedding in tight with the other pups this morning, like what the heck was that? When I passed back on my way to the house, She took comfort from Bella apparently, can you notice the one of the behinds is not like the other? I snapped this a few minutes ago when I was out looking around.
Trish this is Lily and Jasmine's grandmoma....

I'll let you know as soon as they get here. I'm going to go read up about shipped eggs-- do they need to set still for a day before I put them in the incubator?? I recall someone saying that a while back. My incubator is about to be empty I think-- these eggs I just candled are clear, too... so I'm giving them a couple more days to be sure. EIther way, there's plenty of room in there. I think I'm going to build these guys their own little coop too. I'm going to have a little coop town out there.. LOL!

Soooo cute!!! I love the great big rear in with the little guys. What a great mama to allow her to snuggle in with the others!

Oh, and wanted to Share a couple pics of Kelsey's b-day presents! :)

This is the Kalij Pheasant, but I couldn't get a really good pic, he is more nervous that the others. So I am giving him a little more space.

Yeah looks like Xena had found a new mommy. It's amazing that Bella lets her in with her natural pups. She definitely has outsized the little ones. I haven't been out to check the other pups yet but I can see them outside in their kennel so I'm sure they are fine.
I'm mailing Serama eggs to New Mexico today. Got to spread the love!

That's great Danz!!! If you start mailing eggs, you could really open up a new business avenue for yourself! These silkie breeders sell their eggs for something like $45 a dozen (sometimes more if their stock is being shown and won). I've not bought any. I'd just like to get my OWN birds fertile and working! ;)

I hope it hurries up and warms up so I can get to work outside! I've been cleaning up the kitchen and doing laundry and cleaning the floors in here. My Dh is going to be happy when he comes home to a clean house. :) I need to wash the bedding next. I keep checking in here in between. I'm sooooo addicted! LOL My oldest's brithday is tomorrow. I'm going to make his class cupcakes later on this evening, to take to school tomorrow. Yesterday after his shots, we went and bought him a new bicycle-- he is elated! He had really outgrown his old bike. Saturday I'm taking him and his best friend to the Warren to see a movie in 3D, and then Sunday is his birthday party with the family and his cake. He's really into volcanoes and the Jules Vern story-- Journey to the Center of the Earth-- I've read him that book twice now. SO his birthday cake is going to have a volcano on it! LOL That should make him happy.

Hawkeye, thanks! I know he's wanted them for years.. I wonder if they will give us eggs this year, or if moving them effects that?

Verna, doing computer work and look out to see Arabella leading Xena off down the road on the rounds, she's too little I say!
I snapped this an the most zoom I could do....

Then I walks to the end of the drive and hollered at her ARABELLA bring her back home
So she sighed, and brought her back. I jsut want Xena to have a few more days to get grounded! But Bella says shes ready! But she did bring her back to the barn....

Xena was just skipping along beside her, normally I don't make them bring them back, but let them teach them, but shes only been here 4 days!
