I saw that add today too. I hope you find him a nice home. If you can't find him a home, you might try giving C Arrow stables a call and see if they will take him. They told me that if I came up with any roos that I could bring them there. Good Luck!

THANK YOU ALL! I saw the auction in Yoder but felt silly only having only one bird. Do they usually sell one bird? Thought it woul be lots of trouble if it sold for one dollar or something. Thanks for the tip on C Arrow! Very near my house and they took him. I'm better off giving it away then a second visit from my home owners association. They have left me alone for 6 months and I don't need to attract their attention with a rooster that is restricted!

No problem! I'm glad they took off your hands. I'm sure he will be happy there with all the girls running around. I'm sure they will keep him busy! lol

I'm testing a theory, think this will work? I bought an 8 month old gold sexlink pullet to replace my pullet turned roo. This one is laying so there is no doubt. Anyway, I am hoping this one can show my 4 month olds what nesting and laying is all about. I restocked the nest so we shall see what happens.

It will certainly pique curiosity as they get closer to laying, however, you'll likely find that there will be a break in the laying cycle of your new girl, since moving them often upsets their laying for a bit.

Hi Kansas folks. I'm in the northeast corner of KS, just northeast of Hiawatha. This is a picture of my new "Coop to be." It is an antique horsedrawn blacksmith wagon that has been converted into a farm shop. I got it moved home yesterday, but don't have it set in place. Once that is done I will start building the runs and redoing the inside to make 3 separate pens plus food/supply/storage area.

The new coop became a necessity after a windstorm took out two of our barns.

I haven't read all of this thread, but I will read more as time goes on. Anyone on here close to Hiawatha?

Right now I have BO's, BJG's, black copper marans and a couple partridge wyandotte bantems. My sister lives in southeast Kansas and has chickens, too. I recently gave her a trio of my BCM's, and I'm going to have her hatch some black rosecombs for me. I had originally given her all my chickens when we moved up here, since I didn't have a place at the time. I've just gotten back in it this year and am enjoying it.

Gotta get that coop done, though.......

Hello to all my Kansas neighbors!

I see you are from NE Kansas. Are you close to Hiawatha? I'm originally from Salina, but hubby and I moved up here 4 years ago. Our place has been a "work in progress."
