Wow, a bunch for sure! IVY, I hope you get better soon, keep it iced & elevated & take Ibuprofen if you can. Hawkeye, I hope you feel better soon also, I agree with IVY, the hot tea with honey sure makes your throat feel better. We all have strep & staph bacteria on & in our bodies as part of our "normal flora" but it's when these bacteria get out of hand that we have problems. I have read & been told that once you get strep throat you are a carrier & it can come back. At any rate hope you feel better soon & your son's staph infection goes away also. I've been kind of paranoid since I've been dealing with this hen with bumblefoot. I don't have the best immune system anyway, so I have to be careful.
Oh IVY, BTW, Yeah for Valley Vet, the denagard got here today after ordering yesterday! I had to go to Wichita to get my 3rd & last injection in my knee for the arthritis for this round & when I came back the box was sitting on my bench on the front porch, so I got it mixed up & started them on it this afternoon. I sure hope it works fast for them, the poor little Lakenvelder pullets are now hacking & sneezing. The BC Marans rooster is better, he didn't seem to get it as bad as the hen did. I have to tell this on myself, last night when my hubby came home at midnight I let the dogs out & thought what I heard was a hen out in the trees outside. She was making noise due to the cold she has & at the same time I heard an owl hooting right out there in that direction too. I went in the house & asked my husband to go with me & see if we could find the hen so we could take her in. He was aggravated at me for making him go out in the cold & dark to look for a chicken of all things. We got out there with flashlights & he was trying to get past the darned thorny hedge trees that have grown up by the garage & couldn't find any hen. As we were standing there a chicken sneezed in the coop & we figured out she was right by the vent & the sound was projecting outside so it sounded like she was out there but wasn't. He was so disgusted at me for leading him on a goose chase! I told him I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a hen out there because the owl would have eaten her, especially if she was sick. What we will do for our chickens huh.
I need to go ice my knee, it always smarts for a few hours after getting those injections, but at least so far it has helped me with the pain. I guess you have to endure some pain to get rid of some at times.
