Consolidated Kansas

Argh!! I just got home and had a bit of dinner for a half hour, then went out to get more chick feed from the shed and it's 63* out and billowy! It's gotten significantly warmer since I got home!

Okay, done freaking out...now I need to go and see what I've missed all last week! Missed you guys the last several days...It's been a long few days, too!

Well the storm came in fast & left fast, but boy did it blow when it came through. We have tree limbs all over the driveway. I'm not going out there to pick them up until tomorrow. We have a sycamore tree that overhangs the driveway & the limbs are so brittle that if any wind comes through at all the limbs break & drop all over the place. I hate that tree, I never would have planted either one of them in the front yard, they were here when we came.

The storm whipped through Olathe too! The whole house was vibrating! This is the second time in this house that I have experienced this situation. The last time was almost 4 years ago and in February!

Hope everyone is okay and didn't take any damage.

I can't seem to get anything to work right since the forum switch. I'm sure my probs are pretty much on me though, so.....
Yeah, I was having a lot of problems with the forum switch too-- things were moving REALLY slow, but it seems to leveled off now and works most of the time. But there are times this board is acting up for me.

Welcome to the new members! Feel free to jump in any time. We also have a Kansas Poultry Swap & Farm Animal Swap on Facebook, so come visit those also.

Well I have a new egg customer who sounds like she will probably keep me cleaned out of eggs, so that's nice. She came today & took all the ones I had. I told her that I'm getting some more new chicks in April so by fall I should have even more eggs. That is if the others aren't all molting.

Danz, I've been feeding those pups a big bowl of hamburger, potatoes or rice, & their dry dog food at night & the last two days I don't think they even tried to get into my coop. Tonight I fed them & they just passed out I think from being full, they didn't even argue that much over going into the dog house. I saw Lily just passed out sleeping on the ground in the dog pen. Maybe if I can keep them full enough they will leave my eggs alone.

IVY, your new pup Britt is so cute! She looks very happy in her new home.

Well we have a storm headed this way, so I probably won't be on here very much longer, arggghhh. I spent several hours out in the garage working on rabbit cages, cleaning them, & moving rabbits around. I just came in to find a text from my hubby telling me a storm is headed here.

Trish, that is great that they didn't go egg hunting! Being too full must be the answer?? Love it! That is so funny. Although, I don't know if I could afford to give them hamburger every night. But maybe you could use bullion for broth to pour over their food instead? Are your new rabbits easy to handle?

Just wanted to pop in and say I hope everyone is ok. That wind got pretty strong here, guess I'll see in the morning how much I have to clean up.

Sounds like everyone made it thru okay last night. Hope there's not too much other than branches for you all to pick up.

Renee-- very odd, it was so much colder down here and as the day wore on-- the evening kept getting warmer. I knew that couldn't be a good thing!

We had quite a storm here last night as well. I sat and watched channel 13 where they were giving a blow by blow. Well... until it got here and we lost he signal. A tornado went over Council Grove but didn't touch down. I was thinking it's too bad my buyers have taken over insurance on the house. But I guess it's till standing. I haven't been out to check for damage yet.
Looks like a busy day today. I need to go to town and pay the house payment, see my parents etc etc.
I have been worthless the last few days. I really need to get proactive and get things done. DH is working nights. He said after he sleeps a while he is putting a new blade on the table saw. Then I can start cutting my boards for the trailer. I'm splitting 2 X4s into 2X2s to save money. I still had over $200 worth of lumber. And I'll have over $100 worth of poultry netting for it. Heaven knows how much I'll spend on hinges and latches. I haven't decided yet whether I'm going to put in pop doors or regular hinged doors. That is going to be a job in itself because I am putting in 10 separate runs inside and out.
I had 5 baby ducks manage to escape the outside baby duck pen yesterday and 3 of them got into the sled I leave for water for the big ducks and drowned. I hatched 3 more this morning. I guess that replaces them. It's sad though.
Hawkeye I am a lot like you. I have little temper flares but rarely does anyone see them. And like you they go as quickly as they come. I've been a bit of a rip lately. I think it is because the weather has been kind of gloomy and it makes me hurt. I've been in a slump and haven't gotten much done, which makes me dislike myself to some extent.
