Oh yes, it was Chickies_Duckies_etc and she had addressed it to me, and I subsequently researched them. It is just perfect to see some for sale but I'm not in a good position at the moment to get them. Our pasture has one fence that is 5-strand barbed wire and it is on the "long" side. It would keep in large livestock like cattle or horses just fine but in order to put in the smaller animals, we would need to do field fence on our side of it. Fortunately we could use the t-posts that the barbed wire attaches to, so it wouldn't be that hard to do but would be an expense and with everything else we've got going on right now, we just don't have the time to do it. Not to mention, I'd really rather not get animals now that I have to over-winter before I even get the benefit of them. What I'd like to do is do the fencing between now and spring and in the spring, when the new grass is starting to grow, THEN get the livestock that can benefit from it. So, unfortunately the timing doesn't feel right here, but hopefully a similar opportunity will come along next year and we'll be rarin' to go by then!Who was it that mentioned Soay sheep a while back saying it was a hair sheep. Here's some for sale. First I've ever seen.

So sorry about the Lemon Cuckoo - you don't seem to be having good luck with them at all. Hopefully the new eggs will hatch well and fare better.I've been out sweeping and hosing and vacuuming out the Serama house. I just came in and mixed up some oxine to disinfect it. I am so angry with myself or my chicks...not sure which. They apparently knocked their water fount over sometime last evening. As soon as I opened the door I detected that smell of mold. I am very sensitive to it and pick up on it very quickly.
Sure enough my oldest lemon cuckoo cockerel was not feeling good. I brought him and tried to get some probiotics, vitamins and electrolites down him but he just died. I know he has to have eaten some of the mold that started to form. I moved the other chicks that were with him to a different bin. I plan to move them all out to the Seramas house when it is clean and dry again. But it will probably be late tomorrow before it is completely ready. I need to put some tin along the edges to keep the mice out where they have dug holes too. Seems I'm always a little late getting my projects done. I've had the worst luck with these lemon cuckoos. I just bought some eggs from another seller in hopes I have better luck with those.
Well, I thought I would update on the real estate situation about which I posted a day or two ago. I wound up writing an email to the realtor explaining the concerns I had, and at the end requested that we void the contract and each go our separate ways. To her credit, she replied with an email apologizing profusely for her poor communication, and saying that she wouldn't want to hold me to a contract if it doesn't feel right to both of us, so consider us canceled. The relief I felt was instantaneous and last night I slept better than I have for days, since I didn't have to wake up in the middle of the night and toss and turn worrying about the situation. Around the time all this was going on, I had a sudden thought about a realtor whose signs I've seen in my neighborhood a lot, so I decided to call him. I figure he gets enough listings in that area that he probably knows the market there real well. He came out to look at it right away, and called me last night with a game plan. I feel 100% better about this than I ever did about the first realtor. I signed with her based on the strong recommendation of a good friend of mine, and against my "gut". What I have learned from the experience is that a) "one size does NOT fit all, and b) trust my gut.
