Coop Cam!

Definitely use a camera in the coop. I use a Geeni, that I can access from my phone. It comes in handy for checking temperature, supplies, critters, eggs, and gives me an idea when they are all roosted at night. Highly recommend it.
This may be a really stupid question (I am really new to chickens) but do chickens HAVE to roost when they sleep? My chicks (around 6 weeks old) tend to sleep on the “floor” of their coop all together. I’m just curious. They do have a roosting bar available

We have 3 Wyze cameras, one camera aimed at their roost, and another aimed at their nest boxes, and finally one more looking down their run. Interesting to see who roosts where and who sometimes lays an egg on the poop board. All in all, we love the cameras. When we have a chicken sitter for a short overnight or two away from home, not only can we monitor what is going on, we can "talk" to the person remotely!!

Look way back in the corner. Just taking their dust bath 🛀

6 weeks is still young. Do you have tree limbs they could climb and roost on during the day?

We do have a branch inside their run and I actually saw today that they are using their roosting bar during the day so that made me feel better! They still all just like to snuggle at night 😍

No they don't have to roost, and it's not unusual for young birds to not roost especially if there's no adults to show them how.

In most cases they'll figure it out on their own with enough time, or if you want to push the issue, you can manually put them on the roost once it's dark.

I’ll just let them figure it out on their own I think. They do roost during the day so I’m not too worried about it. They look so cute all snuggled in a little floof pile anyways 🤣❤️🐓
