I found a mason jar glass at the dollar store. It has a metal, checker board printed lid and a straw hole. I put a washer on a wire, and then made a loop. I filled it with a battery power strand of LED rice sized lights. The box has a timer.

Switch it on the first day at whatever time you want it to come on again, and then it is on for four hours and off for twenty. Then back on again... repeating daily.

It hangs from a hook high in the coop.

Just thought I'd thrown another idea out there :)

Does it provide enough light to really do anything or is it sort of like a night light?

In a 4x4 coop, its dawn like maybe a bit brighter.
