Coop pics****

We used the witchita coop plans and adjusted it to our wants. We dug out the ground below and laid cinder-blocks all around the base of the coup filled with concrete and did multiple layers of gravel, sand, dirt. There is also now electricity running to the coop, this runs the lights for winter along with thermostat controlled heat. Since we live in Northern Nevada, it gets really cold in the winter (neg degrees)

Just a few things to add but my coop is pretty much complete. We built it next to his man cave and plan to wrap it with same material as coop so our growing chickens have lots of light and electricity for out cold winters. Got lots of ideas off Pinterest then pulled it all together! We are new to backyard chickens and very excited for this journey ! Hope you enjoy our coop for some ideas to add to your own. I'll upload more picture when it's complete.

Our coop! Still a work in progress but I absolutely love it and am so thankful and proud of my husband for building it!!

It's 6x8 and our 6 happy chickens seem
To love it as much as we do

Hi,
These mark the jumps in the evolution of cooping our chicks cum pullets. They're not quite in sequence. The 2nd pic in the tote was the 1st day we got them. They were under that heat lamp for approx 2 weeks. The 3rd pic shows one of their 1st times outside in this makeshift cage put together by friend shown behind. The 1st pic shows their transition from tote to a box in the big coop. Our WWOOFer was tamping down the straw we were afraid the chicks would sink into and get lost in if we didn't flatten it some. The last pic is more recent. The 9 chicks are almost as big as the laying hens now and they're all living together as......... -- i was gonna say 'as one flock', but they seem more like 2 flocks living together harmoniously, cuz the chicks know their place (in the pecking order).
