Being a chicken I like that run. I'd feel safe under those trees from raptors. Plus I like the length to gain wing-flap assisted running speed. I need that training vs. all predators, including that nastiest predator of all: disease. From all us chickens, much thanks.

I was replying to ryannjnc. I see now I need to cite intended recipient. Seems you clicked reply on my post as it was nearest reply button, but were intending to reply to speckledgeorgia. No prob. Just that I guess the only way speckledgeorgia will see this is if she looks on this thread at your post incidentally. If u want to reach her clik the reply button on her post. I'm relatively new to this game, but seems that's how it works

Huh? None needed. Wasn't I just replying to SunHwaKwon? I'm pretty sure that is whose post upon I clicked reply. My post above "My being a chicken..." was me to you. Nice set up, generally, BTW. But this system is a bit confusing, methinks

I quoted speckledgeorgia in my reply. Maybe it isn't showing up on your computer/phone for some reason. Clicking "reply" does a general reply on the thread. Clicking quote quotes the person you are replying to so they can identify that their post is the one you are responding to or about. You can tell when a response is to a certain person because you will see a copy of their post in your reply box. That makes it easy to follow conversations in the thread.

I haven't actually tested any of this out, but I see a general Post a Reply button at bottom left of a thread's posts, then a small reply button on each post with a green arrow. I would think if we clicked on the reply button on the post it would show up in the box of whoever's post that is you clicked on. If clicking on the general Post a Reply I'd think it would only land on the thread, unless someone is quoted or mentioned, then they'd get a notification in their personal email box.

SunHwaKwon, your post seemingly to speckledGeorgia did show up in my email box and didn't seem to be directed to me is why I started all this going over the how to work this system, cuz i dunno how to either. I'll do more quoting and addressing from now on so to avoid any confusion, particularly my own

Okay, here is our tiny backyard coop. We had never built anything by hand before, so we are really happy with how well everything came together. The coop is 3'x4' and the run is 6'x3'. At the moment it is only home to one Light Sussex hen and one white silkie, but chicken math has kicked in and we're going to add more chickens in the near future so we've already started planning an expansion...

Thanks for looking!!

Hi, amiachicknorwat--

Hitting the reply button under a person's name just saves you from having to scroll to the bottom of the thread to find the reply box. Either option works the same. When you hit the "quote" it does as you see above and copies what the person you are replying to wrote to clarify who or what you are responding to. You are receiving emails because once you reply to a thread you become "subscribed" to it and receive email notifications of ALL replies to the thread, not just those directed to you. If someone quotes your post, the email will say "so and so quoted you in a post". That or them directly putting your name into their post will indicate to you that the post is specifically directed toward you or about something you wrote. You can turn off / modify your email notifications in your preferences (scroll up to where you see your name on the right and put the mouse over your name; a drop box will appear and you will see a preferences option). I hope that helps. Forums can be tricky if you are not used to them. The nice thing is that most forums work the same, so once you get the hang of it you will not have to learn a new system on any other forums you join.
