I had my chicks vaccinated or sprayed whichever hoover hatchery does against cocci, but I've started seeing darker softer poo and yesterday one of my 8 week old welsummers was standing around all puffed up by the end of the day she was fine. I went to Rural king and the "chicken guy" recommended checking for mites, and if none were found treat for coccidiosis with corid and told me to look online for dosage. I've been reading different dosage some say 3/4 tsp some 1tsp and some 1.5tsp. I started yesterday with 1 tsp in a gallon of water is this okay? The same welsummer was puffed up again this morning too.

I also thoroughly cleaned their coop and run, sprinkled the powder I bought for mites and DE as a preventive measure. We've had alot of rain lately so my run has stayed pretty wet unfortunately, so I did put some pine shavings in the areas that simply weren't drying until we can get some sand hauled in. I also sprinkled more DE in the run after they went in their house for the night.

With my last flock of 6 girls hardly anything went wrong. This time around I feel like what else can go wrong? I still have an 8 week old injured saphire gem in the house that hurt her leg last week. Also treating her for cocci just in case. She's not showing any improvement on the leg, but is not getting worse either.

Anyway, sorry for rambling. I just need to verify the corid dosage per gallon of water. I have the powder form that says 20% Soluble Powder Coccidiostat.

I had to separate her because when I went out she was sleeping standing up.
I also spotted an actual poop with blood.

Oh and I'm not sure if this is related or important but I just threw out almost a full bag of nutrena chick starter grower he other day because I realized it smelled horrible but my husband had already used some.

She has the classic (hunched/puffed up) appearance and blood in stool of a young chicken with coccidiosis. Hopefully, the Corid will start to help. Make sure that she drinks the medicated water or give it with a dropper. You may also mix some concentrate (1.5 tsp in 2 tsp of water,) and give her 2 drops orally twice a day until she starts to show improvement.

Hopefully, she was not affected by the bad feed. In summertime it is wise to smell and look at feed and any scratch grains, since they can mold easily. If any water drips into the feed container, it will clump and turn blue green. I have noticed a chemical odor and green color in scratch grains, and they can turn that way overnight.

Thank you so much! It was a brand new bag of feed I had bought, but my husband opened it up while I was at work. He assumed it was just the brand, but it was a pretty bad strong odor and didn't appear to have any green in it. I threw it out. The package date was mid may.
