I find these comments offensive and hurtful. Please stop. Bullies often say hurtful things and then say they are just joking. I have been the victim of these kinds of "jokes" myself, and I feel Kelsey's pain.
Same. :(

Yes they need to stop. It's not like we can run out and get jobs right now anyway.
My comment wasn't to you.
It's between myself and Kelsey and I believe she knows it was a joke and in no way a type of bullying.
I've never been anything but respectful towards her and I don't appreciate you insinuating otherwise.

I hope it's okay I pop up and sometimes comment. I'm not sure if this thread is open to public or not. I live alone and am old ( rushing towards 73 this summer) just not sure where I fit in.

The township had a free bus service for seniors/disabled but with covid, that has been shut down. So have no one else to talk too. Lived in this neighborhood for 50 years - it's mostly young families now and no one to be friends with.

My son lives 1300 miles away (he once told me) has a GF and kind of forgets I'm alive. Used to call every Sunday (His idea) but, now rushes thru the call. I told him he doesn't have to call. Just now and then send an email so I know the two of them are okay. Lives very close to ground zero where this all started in USA.

Sorry you don't need a complainer and depressed person.
You've come to the right thread! We're all complainers at some point or another (heck, this is one of the best places to vent that I've found!) and as far as "depressed people" go, welcome to The Club. We just finished a long, deep conversation on just that topic. You're in good company, here, so know that you're welcome and wanted!

I'm usually a morning person, but this quarantine mess has my days/nights/times really messed up. Some days I'm up and at 'em shortly after the alarm clocks crow. Others, I'm so lethargic that it gets to be nearly dinnertime before I realize that I haven't gotten very much accomplished, that day. Then I end up racing like a maniac so I can feel like I haven't wasted the whole day. Those are the nights when I find myself doing dishes at midnight and going to bed with the washing machine running!
I’m the same way!!! Hahah

You are very welcome here, @drumstick diva ! I don't thin you are any different than the rest of us here. 😊 Depressed, sometimes! Anxious, yup! Worried, uncertain, annoyed, fed up, agitated, inconvenienced, lol... the list goes on. Trying not to complain too much. Coming here is great, feel like we are all in this together, kinda taking each other's pulse and making sure we're all still alive! Come hang out any time.

Thank you both but it’s really okay. I believe @The Moonshiner was just mocking the other post/how ridiculous it was rather than actually being serious or directing it towards me but I could be wrong.

Yeah, I know you didn’t mean it that way. The other poster has a long history of being nasty to me and I’ve since hit ignore but I think yours was more just mocking the original one? Either way, I knew it wasn’t meant with malicious intentions like the other one even though it was phrased similar.

You definitely have always been respectful.

I had seen that happening in other countries so it's no surprise I suppose it's happening here too. I suspect this is just the beginning of the supply chain disruptions coming in the months ahead. It's heart breaking to see hundreds of cars lined up at food banks while food is left to rot in fields, milk is being dumped, and meat is going to waste. (for all the various reasons)

Someone in the food industry was on the news earlier today explaining the disconnect between the farmer with the product and the hungry customer and why so much dumping is happening right now. And how big ag is set up to incentivize producers for dumping instead of donating. This person also thought that if food banks had some type of refridgeration, instead of relying on just dry goods, that it could be helpful and a means to make better use of meat and dairy items otherwise going to waste.
We've been so busy at our dairy plant, Kraft, Breakstones, partly because we are donating to food banks, same with Saputo and Chobani here. Many others in the state are also.
Doing what they can to help use some of the billions of gallons of milk being dumped. Drive through dairy giveaways popping up all over.

My apologies @The Moonshiner for misunderstanding the whole thing then.
It is impossible to read tone of voice.

I recall as a kid getting the farmers permission to clean up what the machines missed. It is a shame that cannot happen now.

DD! You belong here along with the rest of us struggling to get through all this.

Refrigeration at food banks wouldn't solve the fresh food crisis we have now. It's not the farmer or the end consumer who have issues, it's the middle men - the milk processors, the vegetable canneries, the livestock processors, the markets, If they don't have the staff to work, it doesn't matter how much food the farmers produce - food can't be moved along the supply chain.

It's not just a matter of "if you can't bottle the milk, make cheese" or "If you can't send the chickens to the processing plant, give them to the poor." Refitting any sort of food processing plant takes time and money ... and while that's being done, food safety dates expire so ... food gets dumped/destroyed/trashed. And for livestock, how many of "the poor" know how to process a live chicken, anyway? And how many could do it humanely?

We have gotten too far away from our food sources. And because of that distance, we have many, many regulations to maintain the safety of our food as it moves through the chain. If any small part of the process bottlenecks or breaks, the whole thing falters. It will be interesting - and probably a bit frightening - to see how this pandemic changes the way we handle and distribute food, not just to the needy, but to all of us. Let's hope we can all learn and adapt, so everybody wins in the end.

I really do appreciate you and @BigBlueHen53 coming to my defense!! I think you guys were probably just on high alert too after the other post?

There definitely are other members though who also make those kinds of “jokes” to me frequently but I don’t think moonshiner has been one and I try to avoid the others now haha

Anyway, I do appreciate it. :love
